Is that a torpedo, or are my eyes deceiving me?

I have no idea what this means, but "Torpedoflugzeug" gives me a clue http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

It's either a torp or they ran out of the normal drop tanks...

Apparently, the Soviets used captured 190s as torpedo bombers post war.

Anyway, looks like Oleg has another loadout to do for the 190 before 4.02!

Ta,
Norris

They did a whole bunch of torpedo experiments with the Fw190s. I don't think they were ever used operationally.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif That would have been one hell of a Torpedo bomber.

Thanks Faust http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Torpedoplane with enlarged tailwheel and vertical stabilisator and torpedomounting below the belly. Just one plane build.

I hope this helps a bit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I thought that is was a Fw190F-8/R14. I happen to have a 1:72 scale model of a torpedo-bomber 190. But it could be an A-5/U15 - I am really illiterate when it comes to the different variants.

didnt they not use it because the 190 was too fast to do effective drops. Anothing thing looking up the high balls from mosquito thread had them using copies they made from unexploded ones they found in dam raids but didnt use as the bomb matched the speed of the plane.

As I understand it, two prototypes of the Fw 190A-5/U14 were completed. The gross weight of the aircraft with torpedo and with two 66-gallon (imperial) tanks under the wings was 11 464 pounds, maximum speed with the torpedo but no external tanks was 310 mph.

The aircraft had an enlarged fin and lengthened tailwheel leg. Gun armament was restricted to wing-root mounted MG 151s. It carried the LTF 5b torpedo on an adapted ETC 501 rack.

The only other torpedo-bomber version was the Fw 190A-5/U15. This was similar to the A-5/U14 except that it was intended that it would carry the Blohm und Voss LT 950 guided torpedo. One prototype was finished.

Here is a photo of the Fw 190A-5/U14:

Is that a torpedo on your Focke Wolf, or are you just pleased to see me?

Fw 190 A-5/U14 had a "long" tailwheel compared to the Fw 190 A-5/U15. It had an lower torpedo-rack. One U14 was apparently used by SKG 10, piloted by Hauptmann Helmut Viedebant on operational flights.
Of the U15 type 3 planes where build ( to carry the LT950 torpedo ( 950 kg ).

Also there was an Fw 190 A8/U11, this one carried the BT 700 torpedo ( 700 kg ).
This plane was used against the Russian Black Sea Fleet in februari 1944.
