Here is a challenge for everyone, seeing as M5 is the last, it would be a great tribute for anyone that gets it to not use spoilers/hints, this even includes expanding the spoiler section of any forum.
This may mean that it could take over a year to finish even if it means going round in circles trying to fine that illusive clue.

Once more for anyone getting M5 to not use ANY cheats, walkthroughs spoiler/hint forums or any other hinting. As a tribute to the Myst trilogy.

Good on ya Cyan.

Well, we'll be here with the spoiler section and the walkthroughs, but no one has to use them!

I know some people make it through without any help.

as will i!

in fact, i'm thinking i'll disable my internet connection while playing, partially to prevent slowdown, but also to prevent me from quickly looking online for answers.

As will I! Once I start Myst V, I may never be able to read a post, or make a post on the forums again. I will miss the forums, yet the temptation to read a hint or tip will no boubt be too great for me if I visit here. As I have ordered the LE which comes with the hint guide, I may have to lock it up and throw away the key to the safe as well, so to speak.

yet, I am determined to not use any hints, tips or walkthroughs, explore every virtual inch, and solve every puzzle this time on my own. I estimate that will probably take me, oh, conservatively speaking...ten years at least, no doubt.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I guess I'll need to go update my I Hereby Resolve thread in the Uru forums...

Failed on TPotS. Haven't used any hints yet on Revelations... but I got sidetracked and haven't played it for a few months.

Better hurry before End of Ages is released.

(Hurries off to complete Myst IV WITHOUT hints...)

I would disable my internet, but there's far too much that I do on the net. I would suffer withdrawl.

better yet have all myst 5 forums or even other Myst 5 related forums shut down for about a month would keep people honest http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm going to try and atleast get most of the way through, before I cheat http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I always play & solve what I can do on my own before I go to the land of Cheat. And I only look up cheats on the immediate puzzle particular at hand. I don't read further on till I've gotten to the next headbanger.

But from what I've read about the game so far, I get the feeling this game won't be as difficult as Riven. (Thank God.)

Just a note, but watch your avatar sizes! 56K'ers might have a hard time.

I can't make it without some help. The hardest one was Riven of course, but even on the others I needed some help. I actually haven't beaten Myst 4 yet, but I have used the help system a number of times to-date.

I always start out saying that I'll won't get help this time.....but I always end up getting stuck while everyone else is past that point....My logic isn't the best :P

I'm one of those people Rand describes in one of his interviews (I forget which one) who loves to play the Myst games more for story and the scenery than for the challenge of the puzzles. So, while I like the idea of not having any help, I am almost certain I'll need it. Sorry to be a party pooper.

I HEREBY VOW that I will not cheat or even get a hint for MYST V as I have done for ALL of the other games in the series. After RIVEN...this challenge will be a piece of cake! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I shall do the same, the feeling at the end would be great knowing you beat the final Myst, the way it should be beaten. It will be hard, but it will be a great way to end it all.

If it comes to the point, weher I am getting no where and I am unable to move on I will have to use cheats just once, but I will try.
