I'll try to explain it without any formulas and to best of my knlimited knowledge.

As you noticed, there are 3 stats concerning physical damage. Attack, Defense and Damage range.

When you attack a creature, your creature's attack stat is checked against the defense stat of opponent. If Attack is found to be higher than Defense, you get a bonus to damage for every point above the defense. Similarly, if opponent defense is above attack, you will do less damage per point below it.

As for damage range, it's pretty clear how it's working hehe.

If the attack of the attacker is bigger than the defense of the defending unit then
Damage ~= N*R*(1+(A-D)/20)

And if the attack of the attacker is smaller than the defense of the defending unit then
Damage ~= N*R*(20/(20+D-A))

Where N is the number of creatures in the attacking stack, R is the damaged that rolled between the minimum and maximum damage of the attacking stack, A is the attack of the attacking stack and D is the defense of the defending stack.

well i dont know exactly how it is calculated, but they dont affect eachother directly like in the example you re giving. besides another thing which has to be taken into account is the defense rate of the attacked creature.

P.S. oh thanks HealingAura btw. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's an excel calculator for it. Ignore that hero dmg sheet for now, not exactly correct.

Calc (http://free-zg.t-com.hr/nebuka/Heroes_V_calc_v2.xls)

Isn't it the number of creatures a hero at a certain level can kill (with the normal attack)?

Yep, not dmg, my fault, but as you said, how much they can kill with each strike. But as said, I don't get exactly the same results as in game...so better to ignore it for now. :-)
