In Glasgows Kelvingrove Art Gallery And Museum there's a late war Spit, cant remember the type, but I'm afraid thats it. You'd be better off making time to visit The Imperial War Museum in London. There you will find everything you've ever heard of. Have a nice trip.

Science and Industry Museum on Liverpool Road in Manchester has an Air and Space hall with some good stuff, lot of Avro related exhibits and a lovely FRXIVe painted up as a post-war 613 Sq. Not huge but some interesting stuff.

Shackelton, a 504, an Okha, all statics though. A small part of a much larger museum about erm, Science and Industry, but some interesting stuff.

Give me a bump if you're in town, might be able to find time to show you round, I could do with a trip back there.

In Prague, there is the:

Aeronautical Museum (Letecké Muzeum)

LetištÄ› Kbely, Praha 9, Tel: +420 220 204 913, Website: www.militarymuseum.cz, (http://www.militarymuseum.cz,) Metro: ÄŚeskomoravská then bus 185, 278 to Letecké muzeum, Open: 1 May-31 Oct 10am-6pm, Tue-Sun, closed Monday
The Kbely aerodrome is home to a fascinating museum of aviation, with exhibits both undercover (arranged in four hangars) and outside on taxiways. Each hanger houses a particular period - Hanger A - pre 1939 aircraft, Hanger B - Second World War aircraft, Hanger C - Czech aircraft since 1945 and Hanger D - sport/acrobatic craft. Particularly notable are the Spitfire, ME 262, Jak 23, Northrop Tiger and Phantom Mk II. A number of MiG fighter jets also contribute to this fine exhibition.

There's also the old Luftwaffe test aircraft base near Prague, the nazi Germany equivalent for the Area 51. Can't find my Lonely Planet directions to the place but Prague tourist info might know.
This is the real deal, no UFOs http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif It's the place where, I think, Me262 among other AC were originally flown by test pilots.

There are some aeroplanes in the Manchester Science museum, including if memory serves a Shackleton and an English Electric P1. They also have a wind tunnel model of the mighty Avro 730.

Thanks guys.

Duxford would be great, but it's just out of range this trip. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Foxyboy - I've got a thing about Art & Spits, so will probably pay the gallery a visit. Thanks

Nice offer, stathem - might be in touch, scheduled for three weeks time. Some of my Manchester hosts are ribbing me about having to run a curry mile - sounds like something you'd get a Royal Marine beret for http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

And Lodovik, that's fantastic news, and so clearly presented. That's a definate. Thank you so much. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

My favourite destination for a City break. Hot women, beautiful architecture & premium beer at stupidly low cost!
