Of course UBI will post the chat log on this site as well. But in case you can not wait for that just surf over to http://www.subsim.com/ and check the SubSim News section.

Which idiot asked this question?

-Thunak- (Dominico): Is the amount of compressed air we have simulated and limited, or is it unlimited? Or say set to only one use for blowing all tanks?
-SH3_Dev_Team- The compressed air is fully simulated and limited. Anyway, the realism settings allow you to set it for unlimited, if that is what you like. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif =

For non-hardcore players running out of compressed air might be a real game killer ! So I perfectly understand his Q.

Heheh i also asked :

Do wrecks stay on the bottom of the ocean when sunk, and do they make obstacles as they sink?

Can you jump into 3D mode at any time as you sail around on a campaign or only in certain locations?

What is the air speed of an unladen sparrow?

Do you get reports on how the war is going in other locations eg attacks on Stalingrad ect?

and some others i forget, i thought they were ignoring me so did something else lolz, no patience me!! Seems they answered one! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I am very new to subsims. I found out about SH3 in october last year.
In my youth I became interested in WW2, but I'm not quite known with those "submarine things" (like uboat terms, how-to-do's) yet...

Very dissapointing Chat in my opinion.
At least half of the questions were either answered in the Subsim FAQ or were just plain nebulous.

Most of the HARD qustions were most likely screened out by Thunak.

Although there were a few Q&A that were informative the vast majority were either already known or irrelevant for a game like SH3.

For example who in there right mind is going to implement punkbuster for a game that has 4 to 8 people (most likely friends) playing COOP?

Very few questions were serverd by Thunak of any substance, although I was not there I cant imagine that such questions were not submitted to him.

Here is a question that has been outstanding for some time yet was deflected.

"-Thunak- (DocMoriarty) Is the damage radius of depth charges now dependend from the depth or still same at all depths ?
-SH3_Dev_Team- Depth charges are still as lethal at all depths. However, this doesn't mean your depth doesn't influence how vulnerable you are."

Well yes depth charges are lethal at all depths I dont think anyone would dispute that - would they?
Of course depth relates to vulnerability because you have less time to maneuver and hence the DC's will most likely find there mark easier.

That DOES NOT answer the original Question regarding the relative DC damage radius related to depth and pressure, if it is modeled or not.

We now know that we will not have individual control over our Engines so this now begs the Question for a TYPE VIIC for instance what will be our top speed and Range?

This depends on Engine management as below

Range (nm/kts) 8,500/10 surfaced (combined diesel electric drive range 9,700nm@10kts); 80/4 submerged.

Speed: 17 -17.7kts/7.6kts (surfaced/submerged)

Does this now mean I am unable to get another 1200nm range out of my boat? or im unable to get another 0.7Knots if I need it for emergencies?

i liked my question the best! Thunak- (oscar18681): what we can expect of the deparure home-comming in the dynamic campaign?
-SH3_Dev_Team- During career, all mission departures will start in a specific base associated with you current flotilla or the last port you docked at. Sometimes you may see a departure comitee (and harbor activity), depending on weather and time of day. Expect the same at home-commings, too. =

i wonder though if by harbour activaty they mean ships or dockworkers.

-Thunak- (BobTuck): Will historic U-boat aces be present in the campaign?
-SH3_Dev_Team- You will not meet any U-boat ace on the sea in the campaign. In any case, in the career menus you'll have the tonnage charts available for performance comparison. =

There were 2 things that I was happy to read in the Log.
1. The final deffinative answer that yes there will be sub nets YAY!!!
2. The fact that we now won't get people asking for a demo all the time since they know that they probably are not going to make one.

I'm also very excited about how naval battles and other historicle events will be moddeled into the dynamic campaigne, it would be fun if you could hang around an area where a major battle was going to take place according to a history book and then sink the ships as they engaged.

Maybe help save the Bismark?

oh btw Oscar, I seem to remember the devs saying that human beings would be shown on the dockside.

I did like the idea that they are going to customise farewell/greeting depending on the time of day!

None... it needs a bow to gain speed.

Which day did the sunk of the Bismark took place and in which location? This is an information we must have to try saving it in the game!
(although saving it will probably mean nothing to the war effort, only advertising).
