Sorry new guy here.
Thanks for all set up help guys!
Much appreciated it!
But two very dumb questions
1) How does one go about capturing screan shots?
I want to guys in x plane to drewel!
2) Ugly water! When compared to your screan shots the water on my system looks very flat.
Yes i know thats what water looks like but I'm a little jelesous here! I want my water to look good too!
so what can i do? is there some setting i'm not seeing?
thanks guys!

I use a program called FRAPS for screenshots and movie capture.

Make sure you are using OpenGL instead of DirectX. You also need to edit the conf.ini file to enable "perfect water". Look for a line that says water=x. There are 4 settings, 1 through 4, 4 being the best. 4 is usable only by newer nVidia cards.

First of all, you want to make your friends 'drool' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
1) Press the 'printscreen' key on your keyboard when you have the picture you want to save.
It will be saved to the location you installed Il2 in .tga format. You will probably want to change this to a .jpg format with a paint program so your friends can view it with a wider variety of programs.
2) Make sure all your display settings in the game are set to their highest values- 'perfect' mode should come up.
If that kills your framerate too much adjust the 'water=#' settings in the 'conf.ini' file.
If you find that too difficult, download a program called 'IL-2 Shturmovik Stab'. It's very handy for adjusting your config file and i found it really speeds up starting the program. You can find it at:

i found that its best to just play a misn regularly, then make a trak of it, play it back on high res wiht clouds effects turned up etc, then turn off messages, adn turn it off loop wiht manual view control etc turned on. then you can play it back at slow speeds and get all sorts of screenies from it.....works even on a slow system since you can slow it down.

I alwys turn them into jpegs adn title them accordingly to facilitate upload to photobucket. Thats all i can think of. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

No one mentioned Irfan View?

http://www.irfanview.com/ An excellent viewer, capable of converting all manner of file formats, including .tga into .bmp. Also good for re-sizing, framing, e-mailng images & so on.

Also FREE! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
