View Full Version : Weakest plane?

S!,
I was kicking around in the Corsair the other evening enjoying the QMB. I put myself up against 4 ace level A6 zeros and found them to be, hmmm....weak. Don't get me wrong, I'm no ace when it comes to flying, but the zero is definitely a flying torch. I know the AI is inferior to almost any human pilot, but still, it only takes a very short squirt from those .50s and the zero is toast. I found it quite easy to light those jokers up..almost too easy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So, in your opinion, what plane do you consider to be inferior regardless of year or situation?

The zero does seem to breakup easy. I remember a while ago in a co-op a zero came up vertically in front of my mustang about 50 ft away, I opened fire and blew both its wings of at the root with nothing more than a snapshot. A wingless zero kept flying up for a bit and I passed underneath him.

They do seem to be the weakest plane. Saying that, take a P47 out against IL2's. The IL2's literally fall apart when hit by the .50's.

well, what do expect from a plane with unprotectet fueltanks in its wings when hit with incendary ammunition ?
the japanese learned how important planeprotection is the very hard way !

I would throw the hs-129 in the list too,
the engines seem to be attached with paperclips.

The Zero is easily one of the weakest...if you get hit. The trick is not to get hit. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Strongest/weakest is soooo relative. it really depends on whether the planeset is fair. Everything would seem weak if you had an aircraft that had a speed advantage, firepower advantage, climb advantage etc,...

Anyway, to be more specific with regards to the weakest plane...I would have to say the Rufe is probably close or at the top of that list. Yes, it's a Zero, but while thos floats are cool, the performance is awful even when compared to its land-based brethren.

I belive the Ki-43 is one of the weakest planes in game. It is highly maneuverable though, so watch out. But it'll set on fire as easily as a pile of dry leaves.

actually the Hayabusa had some kind of sealfsealing tank protection - sure not the qualitiy like western allie planes and most times insufficent - but it had one , Reisen not http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and btw the worst point of the Oscar I is its rearview ! good joke because of the kind of Tubesight programming

It also depends what u get hit with.....
A half second burst from a zero may put a p39 or p40 or spit in flames.

Flew some offline wi'the floatplane-zero...
lost my floaters several times but wasnt shot down...

B-17 is sadly in this list. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
One hit in the wing, and she is goin down.

One hit in the wing, and she is goin down.

Are you serious??? I don't think its easy to bring down at all, with the sniper gunners 'n' all. But aside from that, the Zero is made of paper, I think the modelling is pretty accurate on that account. but yes I agree pingu, the IL-2 is weak, although it shouldnt be!

Really? What are you flying the Me-262?

Or are you aware of some code to type in I'm not? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

also depends on the gun your using

some guns start fires super easy

some guns blow stuff apart super easy

its _all_ relative

Once a Spitfire has a cannon hole in the wing, thats the end of it.
They produce so much drag and roll with a hole in one wing that it is impossible to trim out.

Any plane I am using seems pretty weak to me.

But I do try to keep those flying Hibachi's at arm's length. Everytime I have to use one I feel like my pilot skin should be a marshmallow on a stick. Small wonder the Japanese didn't often use parachutes, why bother in those planes?

MiG-3 I could swear was supposed to light on fire. If it doesn't it gets a lethal fuel leak which will run you out of fuel in about a minute

Zero's do seem pretty vulerable, just as in real life. Some API .50's in the vulerable tanks should light it right up, but there's always the guy online who wonders outloud about the DM and making it more like a P-47 or something, for game balance, apparently... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hmm imo Zero looses wings bit too easily, sure it should catch fire most of cases, when getting shot, but seems like it looses wing everytime only from about couple of .50 hits..

Weakest plane ? HS-129, which is very wierd , considering this was probably the most armored plane of the war, even more armour, than the mightly IL-2s.. (990 kg vs Hs129 of about 1200 kg ) ..

Depends on what the plane is doing at the time- for example, any time i am trying to land all the rivets come loose and things fall off. Is there a patch to fix this? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif
The last flight i took i toasted a He111 with ONE split second burst- a very satisfying though unfortunately rare occassion where i managed to perfectly angle up from his 10 o'clock low. I think i must have hit a bomb!
