Hello all, lots of talk about weak 50s and such so i thought i might ask what convergence settings people use for the planes that use 50s. This is not about the weak or strong aspect or damage modeling simply your convergence settings strength, thanks all.

I have MG set at 220.5 (no idea why I put a 5 at the end though) and Cannon at 215.5 (again no idea http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif).

I mainly fly P-38s so I never really bother tweaking convergence settings but when I fly the 47 the settings work fine for it.

In the 47 i use MG-300 Cannon-350

Using that convergance i can normally pop a 190 on a single dive pass, people bore me complaining about the 50's they arent as effective as they would be in real life but people should actually try aiming with them before they complain, my wingman now uses this convergance, before using this convergance he could never hit a thing and now he can pop and de-wing in a single pass as well maybe the simplest convergance is one of the most effective

150/200 for me, I like to get in close and concentrate my fire.

I set my convergance at 300 for the .50. If aimed properly, you will be successful. I normally fly the P-40 and do quite well with these settings. I have been playing with the P-51 and have the same settings. Just as effective. If you hit a plane where these bullets are converging, bye bye plane http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That's interesting. I have always used both at 150/150 for P-47 convergence (air-to-air). In the Fw190 I use 200/250 but, I figured having everything at one convergence point is less critical with the 20mm and the spread is a benefit. I will give your staggered convergence idea a try with the Jug. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

wow, far out
I run 160-190 depending on the craft

Everytime I read about ".50s are too weak this" and ".50s are porked that", I wonder how many of them are actually shooting and hitting at their set convergence? As you wrote, .50s are quite devastating when they hit at convergence.

175-225 for MGs... depending on the plane....on the P-47 I set both convergences the same.

Guy's excuse my ignorance but does the cannon convergence even matter on a Jug considering it is an all Mg armed plane?

In the P-47 the inner 2*2 MGs and the other 2*2 MGs on the outer wing can be fired separately. You can set different convergence, of course.

One way to find out...dive at the ground and you will see the hit pattern when you fire the guns. Quite a large amount converge at your setting you chose. A wing can be sawed off.

At 120m for p51D, wings tear off and engines flame with almost every pass. On a high -deflection spray, you should at least get a smoking engine, or damage a bomber enough to make it dump load, or separate from the formation.
