View Full Version : Setting detail to max

I've reinstalled my game and can't seem to get the realistic water effect no more. In config file I set water=3 sky=3 and for some reason it puts it back to 2. I've got the newest catalyst for my 9800 pro (had no problem before with this version)
I ran it in open GL, directX maximum settings and can't get it.
Thanks

You can`t get water=3 to work on an ATI card yet since it uses Shader Model 3 which is not yet supported by ATI's hardware, only the Nvidia`s 6600/6800 cards do.

BTW, to get Perfect Mode and water=2 working you need to set PF in OpenGL mode, not DirectX.

Good luck.

THanks, I got it to work. I've set the sky detail to perfect and it worked, I'm running at 1600x1200 32 bit. smooth with max detail. Will I be able to use water 3 in the future?

Only if you swap that 9800pro with an Nvidia 6600/6800 or the upcoming ATI R520 which should be out by May this year with support for Shader Model 3.

I`m sorry but this is a hardware issue, not a software(drivers) one.

I see, next time I guess. Would you know how to activate my Saitek's Evo joystick throttle lever? I'd love to be able to use it, this way I don't have to divide my attention between joystick and the keyboard especially when I'm landing.

I`m sorry but I don`t have a Saitek stick, only a basic MS Sidewinder 3D pro. Try posting this question at the Community Help Forum, more knowledgeable people there and there`s also Tully, the Joystick Man http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Go to the controls screen in the game and scroll all the way to the bottom to the section under the "HOTAS CONTROL" heading. Pull your throttle back. Click in the right column next to the "Power" control. Push your throttle forward. Click the "Apply" button.

My GF agrees that "The Joystick Man" is an appropriate title http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
