Hi,
Just a quickie. Not the end of the world, but dead annoying when you want to take screenshots or video clips. I keep getting black rings on the water no matter what height I am at.
I'm running an nVidia 7800GT, AMD 64 3200+, 1 gig of RAM. I can't get you the DXdiag yet as I am at work but I can post that later if required. I'm guessing it has something to do with the drivers I am using - so I will also post that later as well.
Does anyone know if the latest drivers get rid of this and if so can you post a link to them?
Thanks,

OD.

It's weird - I don't get it - yet my mate here does. We are running identical systems except for the monitor, he he gets the ring problem.

I have a 7900GT and I get rings on anything over water 2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I may try different drivers but ive grown quite fond of water 2

This is a driver issue, up through the 84 series there was no ring, drivers beyond the 84 series always give the black ring.

7950GT and I get the rings on anything over 2 as well. Pisses me off because now I can run water 3-4 smoooooth and fast but the rings just distract me too much so I run water 2.

There certainly is a water=4 in the game. You should check a readme once in awhile. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

From version 4.03m readme:

Graphics:

Reworked water render

To see the updated water render please modify the Water section in the file conf.ini in the [Render_OpenGL] section.

Water = 0 or 1 ? No changes in version 4.03.
Water = 2 ? This mode is visually similar to water = 3 but it runs on ATI cards 9800, X800, X1800 and later models.
Water = 3 ? Fast render mode with Vertex Shaders 3.0 (NVIDIA 6600 and later models)
Water = 4 ? Better quality mode with Vertex Shaders 3.0 (NVIDIA 6800 and later models)
Reminder:
ATI supports modes: 0, 1, 2
NVIDIA 6600 and later models support: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
NVIDIA cards before the series 6xxx support 0, 1, 2 (2 is not recommended)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Are you able to take screen shots of the rings? Or do they dissappear in a screen shot?
