2k seems a little too much for a piece of aluminium to me.

If there were no interest in owning a piece of history, then these items would only end up being dumped. Then it€s lost forever. What use is that?

It€s thanks to collectors that we keep the history.
How many WWII aircraft do you think would be left today if it wasn€t for collectors?

This is a real piece of history and is the actual signboard to one of the RAF's most famous fighter stations - Tangmere. Famous for its role in the Battle of Britain and after, this is the sign removed from outside the guardroom at the main gates when the station closed in 1970. OWN A REAL PIECE OF HISTORY!!! A one off opportunity!! This item is very large and is an aluminium sheet the dimensions are 6ft x 4ft

Starting bid: 1,895.00

Perhaps Tangmere is a very rude word there. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

While Tangmere does have a considerable wartime history, the sign for sale is not the one that would have been displayed during WW2.

The wartime sign would have had the Kings crown on the crest. The one for sale has the Queens crown which would make it post 1953.

Its a nice sign but I would question its collectors value of almost 2000?
