Just a note: Anyone who hasn't seen this great film MUST watch it. It's a dramatised historical account of the pearl harbour attack with pretty equal precedence given to both sides. Theres also some fantasticaircraft scenes near the end of the film, andthe film is interesting and atmospheric throughout...
a must see far anyone interested in the Pacific theatre.

Any other great movie suggestions from anyone?

Yes!
It must be 25 years or more since I saw TORA! TORA! TORA!
What a great film, the latest Pearl Harbour Movie I found to be a real dissapointment by comparison.
Yes TORA ! TORA ! TORA ! really was that good.

I especially like the scenes that were done from the Japanese perspective.. directed by a Japanese director.. and the fact that they speak Japanese w/subtitles -not english with bad accents. Those scenes are great - the hanger deck scene where the pilot is practicing his torp. attack with a map being slid under the bombsite by groundcrew is great too.

Midway is great. But sorry, you're gonna hear some bad accents from English speaking Japanese http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Tora Tora Tora was an excelent movie .. I remember one but it's http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/353.gif

A modern day Aircraft carrier goes through a storm back in time WWII and could have stopped Pearl Harbor bombing ... Sci-Fi thing .. not bad .. made you think though.

The last Pearl Harbor is the first war movie I know who besides some minor slightly decent parts, openly demeans the memory of the vets who fought and died there, it also insults the Britain with a cannon armed Spitfire (Then not operational) flown by an american in the then not operational eagle squadron (Who by the way seems to win the BoB all by himself), and shoots down enemy aircraft throwing cheesy phrases at them.

In one word "Hideous"

Shame on you Bruckheimer.

I agree that Pearl Harbor was a hideos movie, but I don't think Ben Affleck was in the Eagle Squadron. He was just in a regular RAF squadron, and I believe there were a few Americans serving with the RAF.

Also, the cannon-aimed Spitfires were much less horrible than the planes they've used in Tora Tora Tora, or the 1967 Battle of Britain for that matter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I thought the actual Pearl Harbor attack was well done, though the movie was pretty bad in other respects.

Hey, this is my first PF post!

Tora, Tora, Tora! was a great movie indeed.

But I still think Midway was my personal favorite.

It is also my personal favorite battle of the PTO. The real turning point in the Pacific. Both in strategic terms, and moral. Midway showed the world that the Japanese navy was not indestructable. The movie was well produced, the film footage was excellent, and the plot suspenseful. (Well, as suspenseful as a historically documented movie can be)

Anyways, good luck Luthier. I am looking forward to your project! It will be fun to fly over vast amounts of water with one eye glued to the compass, the other looking around for bandits.

Will there be any flyable floatplanes? That would be fun!

I didn't like the Midway. Too much wartime footage with other planes.

About the PH, spectacular, if you put aside the fact that it is so... untrue

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.
