Surely that should read "have a listen to" - and please don't shout, there's a good chap. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Oh, and welcome aboard, you might have raised a good point.

The sounds in BOB2 are nice but I still don't think they're that great. CFS3 has always had the best sound in my opinion. The sound in IL2 isn't really that bad if you pump it through a good surround sound set of speakers or quality headphones. It actually makes a world of difference.

Does BOB2 have directional sound? as in when you look behind, does the engine sound move to the back speakers?

Very important listen. Wonderfully accurate sound does not a sim make!

Ok, so the sound of a Merlin engine is nice, but what about the REST of the sim?

While I like BOBII there are some things slightly strange about the engine sounds, especially of passing 109s/Hurris almost as if it`s `placed` at certain points. It doesn`t come from a distance and go into the background.

FB`s sounds may not represent the EXACT sound of a merlin, but so what? It sounds like an engine, it comes from a distance and goes, it changes if you look left and right - it works.

Also, I`ve not said before, but I believe external sounds are too easily heard above your aircraft engine (although raising the engine volume to maximum helps somewhat).

Anyway, there you go.

BOBII is good, but I wouldn`t buy it just for the sound.

I'd agree that CFS3 did have some pretty outstanding sounds. The true king flr flyby sound effects was Janes WW2 fighters. Every aircraft had its own flyby which I haven't seen since. Hope to see some of that maybe in the upcoming sim!

If you watch some of the films made on F/B BUT with the real egine sounds edited in you can hear what a real difference a good engine sound would make to this sim,it would be the icing on the cake.

I absolutely agree, sound does not a sim make but it makes a world of difference to immersion. Cant beat beautifull sounds played loud to give you the feeling of being there and to frighten the living daylights out of you when not expecting it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
