jeronimo suggested i post this to oleg (not sure how to contact him so i posted here)

the new aep planes like the p51 and p38 have bad color and brightness distortions when in cockpit view and the alpha maps for the windows need to be desaturated and have more transparency added to elliminate this severe distortion and make the windows seem more like the 109's and earlier il2 aircraft which dont have this problem.

Put a 190 in that same position with the sun in the same position, and you wont even see out at that angle.

lol, Fehler, that´s truehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif sitting in a 190 is like sitting in a mousewhole. I wondered how lightend is the world in a P51 and how dark in the 190. especially backwards....don´t know why the allies meant it had a better view than most allie fighters http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif think these allie Testpilots as Eric Brown were all trunken alcoholics http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Am I blind or what? I can't for the life of me figure out what you are on about? What's wrong with the pictures above? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/354.gif

I thought this thread would be about the lighting in the cockpit. When I've been flying a 109 all day and I jump into the P-51 I find the cockpit is so dark and ugly that I want to turn the brightness on my monitor up.

Fb110 is bad too. Wall of light.

Xnomad, try manually setting this in your "conf" file in FB folder...

[OpenGL / DirectX ] whichever the case
:
:
DiffuseLight=0
DynamicalLights=0
:
:

It helps stop the instrument panel from turning black when you turn toward the sun...

...although it the USA panels are so bad I not sure if it can help them much.

Somehow, FB doesn't simulate the reflection of the sun on the canopy on all planes. The only allied planes i know of, which feature that are the P-39, P-63 and P-40. Under certain conditions, you can't see a thing.

Turn on the cockpit lights in USAAF planes. As a matter of fact, I turn them on in all planes. It's part of my preflight checklist, turn on cockpit lights, set prop pitch, start engine, close rad, turn plane - clear runway, let engine warm up (Not really necessary, but fun to do), then go!
