i've lately gotten hooked on this beauty. but since the 'legal problems' seem to fly around this one too, is there any hope of seeing it in the IL2 future? or anywhere at all for that?

are those legal issues just a rumor or a depressing thruth?

well as i said, i'd really like to see this one wiggling around in my inept and sweaty paws. it's the only plane i really wish for as a PF-addon.

I found some really old threads about getting the avenger flyable, but i didn't want to be the grandmaster of necromancy.

i'll sit back in my sofa, flying my hellcat, and chant for myself: "We want the avenger!" (and after that mumbling about not even needing the gunner stations)

i usually get shot down pretty fast when online, against even mediocre resistance, so i just as well can get shot down in style. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not so Funny? At 1:C it was considered good joke.

I'm gonna sit in my sofa shamelessly chanting 'avenger!' until my behind looks like that of a presenting mandrill female.

i don't think it'll do any good, but it might look fun?

This thread has me in stitches!!
And everyone that comes along pertainin' to "carrier borne torp planes"! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

And even if this sim had torp planes and proper torp operations & failure rates, the ships and their A.I./D.M.'s are still so far out the friggin window that none of us, even in our favorite mounts, could fetch what would be needed to get it up to everyones expectations(including my own)!

But when ya think that as the war went on that the Avengers main attack approach was glide bombing ,torps could stay or come with an Avenger as long as we could get the h3llacious bomb loadouts that they carried otherwise.

But it aint happ'nin cap'n so just fuhgeddaboutit ok?

Besides, judging from F6F, F4U & F4F experiences, without catapults modelled, TBF flyers would barely be able to take off from the carrier with "empty" loadout and 25% fuel, be sure! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

well, the hellcat can get off the static carriers (exept the smallest ones) with 2x500 bombs and rockets and at least 50% fuel, without too much problems. that is with some of my fumbling included.

to be honest, the torpedo part of the avenger isn't what makes me want it the most. i just feel a need to be cruising around in in that wonderful creation.

Good (i.e. as in flyable) torpedo bomber with bad ship ai is still better than bad torpedo bomber with bad ship ai. Two wrongs don't make a right, you know . . .

I was told by a person, not official, that at one of the shows that the game was being featured at that the Avenger was not flyable but would be shortly after release by one of the reps at the booth....so much for that!

If I were making a sim, I'm thinking that I would not try to model all the gun positions...just cockpit, bombsight, rear gunner and maybe...just a big maybe on of the top gunners in order to cut down on the work it takes to make bombers flyable...personally, I think setting the standard so high was a big mistake....now years into the sim, I rarely sit in a gunners position and when I do, it is usually the tail gunner or top turret.

Oleg...just something to think about for the future...although, I'm sure some would disagree. I'd rather have a b-26,b-29, b-17, b-24, and several varients of the b-25 and Ju-88 for much less work...just imagine if Gib hadn't done those blister guns on the Catalina...we might be flying her now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

speaking of carrier take-off problems, why does the plane start halfway down the carrier most of the times? having to turn around and 'drive' all the way back ain't fun. and a lot of times a plane spawns in front of you when you're turned and starting your take-off.

not many popularity contests are won by crashing into other people on the carrier.

my daily chant : 'Avenger to the people!'

There's I think 8 to 10 positions on each large carrier deck and 6 on the escort carriers. If your the first person to select the carrier as you home base, you are allocated position 1 which is furthest forwards.
