You know, gay people also die.
So why in the hell shouldn't there be 'gay' undeads?
Don't be homophobic, you little dirty boy!

That said, I don't like pink undeads very much.

I think only about three or so of the new units are pink. It looks OK, but I agree that it will be kind of wierd considering a mighty Necromancer with an army that tends to make the enemies laugh. In any case, I don't see how a pink army can lower your morale...

You don't?
Imagine a pink wraith going la-la-la on the battlefield and you think it wants to play with you.., but then, when you drop your weapons and put on your pink skirt to play with the pink monster - it strikes you with its scythe! That's very morale-lowering don't you think, eh?

08-28-2007, 02:11 PM
The morale thing was meant as a joke, though I think Plemenit's interpretation of it was rather amusing...

what colour would you rather? mauve? opaque :P

08-28-2007, 05:34 PM
There's no universal law that pink is girly. However, given that purple is the colour of death (usually), it would suit Necropolis. Dungeon already has it though, so tough luck. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

08-28-2007, 11:51 PM
Or Emohttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Necropolis are EMO!!!

Purple indeed is very rare asociated with living things. At least they could be not so bright.

08-29-2007, 12:08 AM
I hope, none is offended.

BARBIES ARE JEOPARDIZED!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

... 4 this - pink sucks! ...

09-07-2007, 05:19 AM
They look intentionaly emo, but even emo are not so pink http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

09-07-2007, 06:25 AM
Well i can understand that in some cases it is pretty odd. The banshee for example is pretty weird with pink, but the poltergeist ? Naah.. i think it has something to do with the red eyes showing some seething anger, and a transparent red would be a little odd, so transparent pink was a little easier somehow... uhh. i'm pretty sure they have a good explanation. Otherwise the army really doesn't have that much pink except a few eyes.

09-07-2007, 07:39 AM
You could always look at this from a scientific point of view; the reflection of the light against the actually clear bodies of Poltergeists causes a secondary acute reflection that gives them a pinkish color...but I doubt that that's the correct explanation.

If you think about it though, the originals weren't so great either. Wraith was blue-ish. There aren't really many colors that can express the undead that haven't already been used. Still, they could have at least used a darker pink.

You can always look on the bright side...its only a matter of days after the game comes out before someone makes a mod that changes the color of these new units.

09-07-2007, 09:14 AM
Or if there is a suffiently large enough cry of change, a patch from ubisoft to change it.

09-07-2007, 12:12 PM
You're pressing your luck. Even if they come out with a patch, it won't be for a good few months after the game comes out. It will probably be quicker to just learn how to mod and change the color yourself. But like I said, there are so many people that are negatively criticizing this "pinkness" that its only a matter of weeks before someone decides to change their color.

Then again, this might not be so easy with the Banshees, who emit a pinkish glow rather than be pink themselves. Maybe we'll just learn how to deal with it (in other words we will never ever recruit the new units).

09-07-2007, 12:24 PM
Well we shall find out at one point or another, but again, it is mostly the banshee it really looks out of place with, otherwise i think we can get used to it.

09-07-2007, 01:59 PM
Well, the game hasn't come out yet so who knows, maybe there is a new wonderland scenery where the new Necro units fit in perfectly. I think even Nival will be quick to notice their mistake on these new undeads though...

09-07-2007, 03:46 PM
Possibly even now they could be fixing it.. you never know. But i do think there is to be some new scenery.. i would be surprised if not. But i doubt pink undead fit into it. I'm just curious what consideration went into making them pink.

09-07-2007, 03:52 PM
Probably the fact that there's not many other colors to choose from. I mean, the only logical colors I can think of right now or greyish, purple, or transparent. Something darker than pink. But like you said, the game isn't released yet, and they might make changes before releasing it.

09-07-2007, 03:58 PM
Yeah, that is the problem, not too many colours to choose from, and again, i don't mind pink for the poltergeist, just the banshee..

09-16-2007, 05:26 AM
Hey how do you think a greenish - yellow would look like?

09-16-2007, 06:26 AM
Imo the alt necro upgrades should have had a pale blue aura.

09-16-2007, 11:02 AM
I'm more for the pale blue..

09-16-2007, 11:29 AM
D'uh! Beats pink variations any day.

09-16-2007, 12:42 PM
Pale blue...yeah that would be pretty cool. The only problem is the Banshee, beause the Wraith is already blu-ish. Still, a different kind of Blue would be nice. In any case, a pale color.

09-26-2007, 01:02 PM
If I might make a suggestion.

So far, in HoM&MV, the color for necromantic energy has been green. Maybe of their units have glowing green eyes, the hero's casting animation is green, many units have a smoky green substance coming from them, etc, etc. Even the swampy landscape has a distinct green fog.

I'm suggesting you change that to a cold, pale white. The color of bleached bone or a corpse's skin. Something like the color of the ghost dragon, or the brief cloud of fog that accompanies the vampires changing into bats in HoM&MIII.

Curently, the archlich has the only current look like this. I suggest, then, that the current alternate upgrades get a misty aura in some cases, with eye that glow white. Instead of contrasting this with purple, I'd suggest just straight up black. Take a look at Raven and Zoltan. Something like that, without the little green gem on their foreheads.

And then have the alternate lich upgrade be more green and sickly, since the current one already has this look to an extent.

09-27-2007, 12:55 AM
Well, at least pink is less gayish than yellow. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Seriously though, many of the alternatives look... strange, not only Necro's. Some of Dungeons's newbies are painted with too bright colours (Shadow Mistresses for example). The whole new line for Inferno looks... well, terrifying, I mean hideous and such, which is just fine, but for some reason doesn't fit with previous "burning" upgrades... Damn, I want the Kreegans back, PERIOD! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

09-29-2007, 07:33 PM
What is all this girly fuzz (from heterosexual males) about some pink banshees? (which are female ghosts, if everything is right that is.)

I don't get this thing with hetero-guys... they find it so difficult to see one unit pink they almost die because of it... really hetero-guys are WORSE than gay-men because they aren't so terrible pathetic about one color... THAT'S girlish...

09-29-2007, 08:33 PM
I totally agree. It doesn't irritate me as much as people (usually straight males curiously) whining about Dungeon being "too nude" though, whatever that means (nevermind that it's a matriarchal fantasy race - the only odd thing is how heavily clothed the males are.) Yes, let's just ignore Inferno and Sylvan (what was that? the wardancer is more nude than the Blood Fury? Oh but wait, he's a dude, so it's fine...), and now Stronghold...

10-02-2007, 04:47 PM
Don't know why the hell you got into the nudity bit, it was totally pointless. Though you are correct to say the Banshee is a female spirit. That is wierd. I've never thought of the Grim Reaper being a guy or a gal. Just something neutral in between. They should rename and recolor.

10-02-2007, 06:51 PM
Because it is one of those things that people whine about every single time. And I find it even more stupid than whinging about how "gay" Necropolis looks, as if dead creatures could be gay, or even have genders in most cases.

10-02-2007, 06:54 PM
See that is my point. They don't have genders. When you think of the undead, you don't think of a pink creature. You think of a grey mist falling upon the lands, and you suddenyl go cold on the inside and then the living dead attack you. They shouldn't have any colors like blue or green. Ghosts should be clear, Wraiths should be darker (not more colorful) Wights. Wights are really good looking undead. They are dark colored, and truly I would believe that they can inspire fear in enemies.

10-02-2007, 08:26 PM
The thing about the colors that people are overlooking is a very simple one. They wanted very distinct colors so that you could easily differentiate one from the other on the adventure map & in battle. Many of those undead look nearly identicle if not for the colors. I agree that they'd be best suited for black/white/gray combinations, but that won't work if you're playing a timed game or that dynamic battle system stuff. Pink is gay? Puh-leese. *rolls eyes*

10-03-2007, 05:54 AM
Well I don't like green much. I would've preferred a light cold blue for the undead, though grey works as well.

10-03-2007, 06:30 AM
I don't really mind most the pink units, just the banshee, and not because it looks "gay" just very much out of place.

10-03-2007, 01:30 PM
By definition, Banshee is a female spirit. Therefore, they should call the Poltergeist a Banshee, and change the Banshee to something like a Reaper or Soul Harvester or whatever (I can't make up titles for my life), and then change the color of that new Wight upgrade to something like the Banshee except gives of pale grey instead of pink.

10-03-2007, 04:53 PM
The banshee is a powerful (extremely powerfull that is) ghost of death, that's why they picked the wraith/wight creatures for the banshee upgrade.

And I don't like the poltergeist being pink, the banshee is cool as it is now.

I for one am a gay, and I HATE the color pink, but in this case it really suits this female ghost.

And green and grey is a bit boring... other creatures already have this color, purple would be a much better pick, there are many huwes of purple to pick from.

Well same here, but I don't mind the colour. Purple/black are better though, but that's Dungeon's theme. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

10-04-2007, 12:46 AM
Pink sucks, but those Lich Masters suck even more, like those new Skeleton Warriors, where are their ranged abilities?? I always own the AI with ranged things, now i think i'm not gonna upgrade my units anymore http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

10-04-2007, 12:52 AM
Em... just one thing doesn't fit here. OK, we agree that the pink, representing in most of the people's minds the international gay brotherhood (I think yellow is the colour actually) isn't that inadequate, becouse of the spectral analysis and the cuteness of the pink in general, and, in the Banshee's case, 'couse they're female spirits. Question! Does "female" immidiately means "pink"? And if yes - why? Before you answer - remember the ghosts from HoMM II and IV. And the Wraiths from HoMM III for that matter.
By the way I'm not saying that the Banshees shouldn't be pink, just the very argument "they're female, they can be pink" is quite inappropriate here. They can be green-orange too.

10-04-2007, 06:33 AM
Yellow? To wake you up, I have many gay friends and they all like different colors, I for one like Indigo, black and deep purple, but I know other gays that like yellow, orange or grey.

There is NO international gay color, and don't mind that media-gays because they suck and they spoil it for the non-media, non stupid gayparade normal gay guys like myself.
I don't want pink, parades and sex with every heterosexual male I encounter for example.

The banshee's should be black/purple, but I think that color they have (Dark pink/purple) is good aswel, atleast I don't mind it.
I think this banshee looks extremely cool, but the poltergeist on the otherhand seems out of place, the lich should be another color aswel.

ow and I agree that girls shouldn't be confronted with pink aswel, only when baby :-p
But in this case the creature looks more like a male creature, so making it pink was the solution for them.

10-04-2007, 07:10 AM
Very off topic, but http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif

10-04-2007, 07:14 AM
Well... yes, I think this answer will suffice. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

10-04-2007, 07:23 AM
Could we try and move this discussion back on track ? All this talk about gay colours and girl colours really hasn't anything to do with it.
More that they look a bit out of place, i mean the pink in the lich and skeletons and ghosts, that is okay, because it has a sort of darkness over it.. but the banshee.. bright cheery pink ? What the bloody hell is that doing there ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

10-04-2007, 07:34 AM
Short answer: becouse Nival says so and in this case Nival plays God.
Slightly longer answer: noone had actually seen Banshees and lived to tell the tale, so they can paint them yellow or orange if they want to and you'll have no valid ground for objections. I personally think that the Wraiths should have the Wights' skin and vice versa, but who cares? One may say the opposite and he'll be just as right as I am. Someone decided that pink banshees look cute and made them pink. Or maybe he had red some mysterious myth, where the banshees are described in pink colour, don't know. In any case - they CAN be pink, just like they can be purple, black, white, grey, green, red and so on. The discussion itself is pointless, but we can all say "pink Banshees suck big time!" and maybe they'll be forced to repaint them for marketing's sake.

10-04-2007, 06:19 PM
Well actually I think it is the Wraith (it is the upgraded version, isn't it?) that sucks most. It looks like a glowing circus freak. Comparatively, the Banshee is an improvement.
