I've been thinking...

There is no patch that can reproduce the 'fear factor'. As we know,in real life pilots cannot press refly before or after they kiss mother earth for the last time. Therefore in this sim we do not fly as if our life depended on our skills.

We discuss endlessly engine management and trim to create realism.

I have tried to create the 'fear factor'myself with spring loaded bolts in the back of my chair that activate when I am hit. These have caused severe bruising and some rib damage plus the occasional hospital treatment but they are not the answer. I have also experimented with igniting petrol cannisters but these have not found favour with my neighbours as my screams and the smell of burnt flesh have had an effect on local house values.

My solution would be to use the factor that is more important than life or death...MONEY!!

I suggest that you all lodge an agreed amount of money into my Swiss bank account and if you are killed I will keep a percentage. The obvious benefits are that your flying skills will improve.

As you can see, I will do anything to help this community of ours.

Death Kick

Now it is important to stay alive or else you'll find yourself sitting in the lobby more and more. Play on a dogfight server that has a deathkick. Oh thats right... there is only ONE DF server with Deathkick.

The closest I've ever seen to "online fear" is when my squad was playing FB Online War. 1 life, 30 minute deathkick.

Add night time low-level jabo strike. AAA all around my 109E-7/B, Search lights jumping around. Trying not to draw enough attention to interest the enemy fighter contingent.

Not real fear, but definatly got the adrenalin pumping.

I've only flown a few coops, but I get the same feeling. The wait after you die could be 15-30 minutes.

This lack of a fear factor has also crossed my mind a bit. Perhaps someone could setup *extreme Il-2* LAN parties, with 20+ player, two squadrons. A death results in a non-lethal, but incredibly painful electrical shock (every player is wired up by the 'nads). At the end of a predetermined period, the highest kill/death ratio gets the pool of entry money ($100 a piece?), a certificate, and a hot young girl. Or boy, according to preference.
