Oleg asked to post this here. I'm catching a plane to Moscow in a few hours so I won't be able to respond to questions for more than a few minutes, but I'll check back on Oleg and this thread once I'm in Moscow. BTW if anybody has something not related to this thread to talk to me about, please use the PM system.

Oleg has been in a bad car accident yesterday. On his evening commute four cars in front of Oleg collided at high speed. He was barely able to brake without hitting them, but his car was then rear-ended by two more cars at high speeds. Oleg's car was totaled. He himself wasn't hurt as badly as most of the other people involved, but he does have strong back / neck pains and he just went to see his doctor today.

By the way, car insurance laws in Russia are much less consumer friendly than in the free world. Even though Oleg has no fault in this at all, he'll only be able to recover a small fraction of the cost of his car, and won't get any help with his medical bills. So this is a nightmare on many different levels.

Oleg will take a few days off until he feels better. Release of the next patch will have to be delayed until after he's back at work.

Hi folks, i contacted Devteam last night, unfortunately there is another bad news.
Besides accident described above, Oleg got into second car accident Saturday morning http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
His car was rear-ended by a Dump truck at the traffic light as Oleg was standing still. Driver of the dump truck fell asleep and slammed into Olegs car doing 55 mph. As a result of the accident, Oleg suffered ligament tearings on his neck and was taken to the hospital. He will be wearing neck support cast for a month or so http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
When he will be back to work is not known.
Will keep ya all posted.

Ivan.

Hello folks. Dang, forums came back too early.. i was hoping for couple more days http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Anyways... i spoke to Oleg this morning. He is feeling better, i mean pain is still there, but i guess better then before. Cast on his neck irritates the leaving cr$p out of him, but he`s in good spirits. He is a little or maybe no so little upset about two totalled cars and ruined upcoming vacation.. but very happy to be alive. And that is most important part. On behave of all community i wished him speedy recovery and all the good things.

Me and Hunter are working on PayPal account where those who wish to contribute to Olegs recovery fund can do so. There are few obsticles that we have to overcome... but it shouldn`t take a long time. I will start separate thread as account is ready.

Cheers!

Ivan.

It seems he is having a bad luck lately.

Getting rear ended by a car at low speed can be bad enough but getting rear ended by two and at high speed, could be disasterous and you are lucky to walk away from it, especially after coming to a sudden stop, in a pile up.
Screw the patch/ addon and concentrate on keeping your neck and upper spine in good order.
Hopefully at most, your neck will only be a bit sore for a couple of days and take care post trauma shock doesn't set in.

We find insurance companies can be a nasty piece of work no matter where they are.

Hello

Best wishes to Oleg, and hope he is feeling better soon. Very glad his injuries are not too serious. He should be careful with his back though, and make sure he sees a physiotherapist before subjecting it to strain. He may even want to get a CAT scan if the pains persist.

I was rear ended while stopped on a Motorcycle at a stop sign, had my bike driven into the intersection and I landed on my back. It took me three years to be clear of the pain and that was after extensive physio and other treatment.

Very sad to hear about your accident Oleg. I am glad you are not seriously injured.

Someone in Olegs position does not deserve to be struggling financially. He should be wealthy beyond his dreams for what he has created here.

In my opinion, he is a genius and should be rewarded for it.

Can someone not start a Paypal account to perhaps take donations for him and his family. Even if it only amounts to a few hundred dollars. It will go a long way sentimentally.

I for one would be glad to contribute directly to Oleg for what he has given us.

Does anyone have the means to do this?

Wow

Two thoughts here:

1) I hope Oleg and all others in the accident enjoy a quick and painless return to full health

2) Oleg, congratulations on the community you have created here. I can think of no other 'game' community in which the man who is the driving force of the 'game' not only gets so much instant and unanimous support from people he will never meet, but also in which that support goes so far beyond the 'game'. I also can't think of another such community where another person such as 'Luthier' actually takes the time to report events like this.

Sad to hear this... Oleg seems to have bad luck with his health quite often, but this time he has lots of luck. Getting stuck within 6 cars can be a real pain in the a$$. He survived it with rather little injuries.

i agree completely.

the physical wounds will eventually heal, but often car accidents like this remain on peoples minds and makes it difficult to relax and focus as before.

a persons mortality can be brutally shown to them, and as such anxiety attacks and hypertension can sometimes result.

close calls can sometimes be not as minor as they seem. Heres hoping Oleg, and all the rest involved in the situation, make a full recovery.

ahhh well - don't beat yourself up, LEXX dude...it is hard to know the severity of this thing yet with only second or third hand info...accidents are a fact of life and an everyday hazard for most everyone.

From what Luthier posted it is hard to know exactly how bad this is for all of the people involved....I lost an Aunt in a traffic accident and it seems sensless but we all have to take chances everyday or else hide in a room 24/7 and that aint living.

Life is the important thing - cars and property can be replaced.

Hopefully Luthier can fill us in later as to the well being and outlook of all the people involved in this.

I used to repair wrecked vehicles so I know how bad it can be. Get well soon. Do what the Dr. says and take a break for awhile. You may not have been badly hurt, but you will be badly sore for awhile.
Get well soon.

I'm very glad to hear that you have survived your experience, and I send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

A whiplash injury requires a lot of rest for a full recovery, so please carry out your Doctor's instructions to the full!

Take your own time with this - what you do now may affect your health for the remainder of your life - that's far more important than what's going on around here.

More news about the crash, as posted by Oleg's employee at the Sukhoi.ru.

Oleg actually got in two (!) crashes in the course of 2 days (in a row).
First, at Friday evening he got into large crash with several cars involed. He was riding in Skoda Superb then and was hit from behind. The seat back broke, but softened the strike.
The car was totaled.
Next day morning at Saturday, he was driving Skoda Oktavia and was hit by a garbage collector truck which was doing 90km/h, agian from behind. Oleg's car was standing at the traffic light, and the truck driver felt asleep after the night shift.
Oleg got neck injury (frotunately, the bones are ok) and now recovering at home.
Both cars are totaled. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Quite high for Moscow. You should've seen their traffic and some of their drivers!
Moscow, probably, has the highest pecentage of idiots on it's roads, comparing to the other cities. And taking in account, that it is a very large city with lots of cars and quite hursh weather conditions...
I'd rather use the subway there. Even despite the terrorist attack threat it is much, much safer, then driving in this city! And also much faster, BTW, though not as cmfortable, as a car. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And also much faster, BTW, though not as cmfortable, as a car. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

trust me. I drive proesionally. FOR A LIVEING. and idiot drivers know no boarders. thier every where. i guess that Moscow traffic could be compared to LA. at 5 pm on Fri afternoon.
Simply hellish.
IF you should speak with him Vladimir, give him all our best.

and Skoda would have been my 2nd guess.

I would recommend his future car would be a Volvo like car, with Airbags on the fronts and sides. It always best to be alert when driving too. Driving should be alway a pleasure and not a rush.

2 crashes in 2 day is not normal. Dont worry too much about the events. Just think towards the future.

Someone should layoff Oleg. This has gone far enough. Prank or no prank.

Hope you recover fully soon and back to work.

All the Best.

The second accident looks like assassination attempt but the first... not at all, but maybe Ivan didn't post all details... Two accidents in two days, and consider that it was in Moscow, where many bad things can happen to people who are in some ways "inconvenient" to others. Maybe I am too suspicious but it all looks strange to me.
Apart from this I wish Oleg lots of health and fast recovery!

I hope his organs are all in good shape. A common problem with 'getting hit from behind' is that your balance-organ next to your ears gets deregulated. This causes extreme dizzyness and with the dizzyness, illness as in barfing. This can last for a whole week!

I hope he'll drive a Volvo next time..

hmmm, were he get 2 cars to write off in a few days, If u said his car was written off in the first crash where he get the second car? as it was kinda made out that he only had one car and he wud have trouble recouping his money back from the insurance company for that 1, I sincerely hope he is ok, but this is kinda suspicious, the forums are meant to go down today and then this post, his car was totaled by a dump truck then totaled again the following day ????????

Oleg, hope for a speedy recovery...you are fotunate to be alive...55 I assume kph, by a dump truck...you car must look like a can opener hit it.

I was once hit head on...I had come to a complete stop and the oncoming car, drunk lady driving the wrong way on an exit ramp, struck me probably doing 30mph or so and neither vehicle ever saw the road again...my car was heavier, the heavy one always wins the battle. A dump truck is huge...at least in america.

Take care and get well

Well, get back soon, Oleg.

Quote: More news about the crash, as posted by Oleg's employee at the Sukhoi.ru.

OMG! Olegs car is undermodeled, he desperatly needs a reargunner !

Anyway, best wishes and good recovery.
