Downloading is not normally a problem; I've got a T1 pipe.

After having tried every site available that hosts the GW files, I'm sad to say that every attempt, except for the very small files has been a failure.

What is happening is that the download prematurely completes as though it successfully concluded, but the fact is that only a portion of the entire file arrives. naturally, it is corrupt.

I suppose this behavior is caused by either leeching or bandwidth starvation or both.
I've noticed that the subsim site is suffering
bandwidth issues today. I guess GW is a hot commodity right now.

Perhaps I would be wiser to wait until the commotion dies down? Any thoughts?

Do you use Firefox as your browser? I had a similar problem, thinking the downloads had finished when they actually hadn't. I don't know if Explorer does the same.

That said, BR, or I can mail you a disc with the files on it. PM me if you need to.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Thanks, both of you. My location is Minnesota, USA. I'm using IE behind a rather thick firewall, but even when I turn it off, things dont change. I've had some issues like this before with large files a couple of years ago, but the phenom faded away. I also tried the ftp file transfer from the Euro site, but that was even slower and still prematurely halted. The source doesn't seem to matter.

Since no one else is struggling quite like this, perhaps I'll keep trying, but at different times of the day or week. I'll solve it sooner or later. I've actually downloaded 420Mb files successfully in the past. Don't know why these ones are such a chore.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Seemed to have found a solution. I downloaded GetRight 6.0 and tried that out on the files at Uboat.RealSimulation. So far its boring right thru the problem (whatever it is) just like an auger. Go figure.

i may be wrong about this, but i don't think Uboat.RealSimulation has the latest GW1.1a files.

i downloaded from the europe mirror.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Well, they do include the overlay fix and the 1.1 patch. What does that leave out?
