I am running a AMD 4000+ 2GB RAM with a 7950 GT on a 1600 x 1200 setup and averaging 30 FPS max but regularly going down to 20 FPS and often lower.

From those that know would I be better off getting a 4800 X2 processor, I'm Skt 939, or adding another 7950 GT. Has anyone been doen this route and would the expenditure be worth it.

The 8800 GTX is not an option at this time. Due to cost.

Any advice would be appreciated.

MOBO is ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
Soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS.

You have got a setup problem causing those low numbers. Post a dxdiag, conf, and nvidia control panel settings in a new thread in tech. You can do alot better than that.

SLI aint worth it, it is much cheaper to get one single 8800 then two lesser cards, and they wont be better then one 8800 anyway

and btw AMD gets crushed by Intel and there Core 2 Duo, you might allso try that one instead

I'll post the DX Diag tomorrow but i would like to add I'm running my own missions with 100 plus moving units in them so they probably have something to do with it.

I've got all the latest drivers etc but on the down side I'm running XP 64 which can be a bit of a nightmare but thats sorted itself out over the last year.

I don't think theres anything wrong with my system I just want to know if SLI 7950 GT is going to be worth 170 for IL 1946 to get 40 - 50 FPS in the games I am running.

I am blown away with Olegs game and the new maps. Its awesome.

What are your AA and AF settings? With that setup and even at that res you should be getting better FPS unless your AA and AF are cranked all the way up. If you do intend on getting a new CPU then go with Intel's Core2Duos because they are by far best bang for buck at the moment.

Seriously an Intel core 2 will give a far better perfomance increase than an SLI setup, especially in minmum fps, around urban areas and in large scale dogfights.

Hell go for an Intel 6300 core 2 duo and overclock it, overclocked they go faster than fx-60s, theyre damn good overclockers.

The SLI rig will give you better FPS at high resolutions. You are running 16x12 so you should see a nice increase going SLI once you get it configured correctly.

A better CPU may not help much at that high res. But it would help a lot a lower resolutions.

You should only need 2x AA at that res. Any more than that and you will suffer fps loss. Once you get SLI, you can turn the AA up again at that res.

Id say leave your rig as it is and start saving for BoB. I am sure you could squeeze more performance out of that rig.

Yep your right I could upgrade allsorts but this rig is going at the end of 2007 so was just looking for a couple of hundre quid quick fix. If a cheap 7950 GT comes along I night go for that.

Going to look at the settings now and play around a little.
