Megile, if the LW had those to fly in WWII, I'd expect there would be much less crying on the forums. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Looking at Hyperion's link, I am writing 1C an immediate email to get the FW-190 fixed so that it does indeed have the glide characteristics of a brick. Just like it did in real life.

As it is now, I can glide a FW-190 around for an hour with no engine running and working my way down from 5000m.

Totally overmodelled glide ability. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I think having had "those" would give an even harsher outcry. Try to fight B17s and Mustangs with those russian crates at 10.000 meters and you know why you love your trusty 109 =)

Allieds concentrated high up, russians down low and germans had to find solutions for both

Totally agreed and good points. However, logic has no place on these forums, lol. I posted that because I always read LW pilots crying about overmodelled La-7s and Spitfires. :^D

Even while in a Spitfire, I will always drag the La-7 above 3000m and watch it's performance drop off significantly with each 100m higher we go. ;^)

A quick google search through the top secret LW archives presented me with this old b&w photo of a FW190 against the horizon. Notice this plane is in a dive and the tail is sorta sagging.

(5) Pierre Clostermann, Flames in the Sky (1957)

Red tracers danced past my windshield and suddenly I saw my first Hun! I identified it at once-it was a Focke-Wulf 190. I had not studied the photos and recognition charts so often for nothing.

After firing a burst of tracer at me he bore down on Martell. Yes, it certainly was one-the short wings, the radial engine, the long transparent hood: the square-cut tail-plane all in one piece! But what had been missing from the photos was the lively colouring-the pale yellow body, the greyish green back, the big black crosses outlined in white. The photos gave no hint of the quivering of the wings, the outline elongated and fined down by the speed, the curious nose-down flying attitude.
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I think Closterman also said:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">
....we dived from 15,000ft onto the FW190s spiralling up to meet us. I closed rapidly on the fabulous yellow-nosed leader and put one mg into his wing then, knowing that the leader was out of the fight because he would have lost 100kmh off his top end speed plus would have little flight control anymore then popped a cannon round into another hun 190 and watched it run out of fuel in under 5 seconds. I radioed Martell, who had a 190 on his 6, but he obviously knew it was there because we'd recently had F6 keys fitted to our Spits and he evaded it easily with a no-e-loss manouvere that made even my experienced head spin. Suddenly, over the radio, came the cry, 'Turban 2 - break left', which I did and applied full power. After over 2 hours at full power with boost and radiators closed, I noticed that my engine was overheating so I decided to throttle back as I'd already reached 195,000ft anyway!'
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Nice pics...I do hope no one attempts to use Clostermann to validate anything in the future - he was clearly talking out of his a*se http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

There were no French before the hostilities commenced. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That is actually a FW190.5 A8.6 captured of the coast of Oklahoma during the Korean war in 1872. Note the star on the vertical wing thingy in the back. It's easily distinguishable from the other 49 stars on the Hawaiian flag.

Sometimes you guyz disappoint me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

it couldnt point the prop downwards & fly level

what the FW looks like is a nose down attitude , but thats because of the underside fueselarge & hood slope angle

F6_Ace/Norris is quoting Closterman , but what closterman is relating is what the FW looked like to him as well - he never got to fly a FW or even alongside one in formation

for real this would have never beomce the debate it has if FB had just given justice to the FW-190 foward view is my opinion
