is P39 low speed maneuverability any realistic, u can make loops with it at really slow speed, under 300kmh down in the deck. it lift nose easily with no problem

The American version of the P39 was famous for flat spinning. but..My answer is "I dont know". sorry.

I don't know either, but I know I love flying it.

Which version of the P-39? The Q-10 seems very agile while the D-2 is a slug.

Almost all FB planes can be looped under 300kph as has been demonstrated. Its one of those edge of the FM things that goes a little odd.

It was not famous for flat spinning only when ammo was expended which thru of its center of gravity. Similiar to the p51s behind the cockpit 85 gallon tank which many pilots removed or drained to 45 gallons on take off. So only 40 gallons of fuel was enough to throw a planes center of gravity off.

Anyone of you feel like doing the math in weight, p39s ammo weight?

Remember oleg posting the data about the advantages of the p39s engine being in the center of gravity, This made the aircraft extremely manueverable in the turning dept.

All aircraft went into flat spins from over responsive of controls. Something missing in here since FB sturmovik had it.

Hopefully the new BOB fms will bring it back again.

what i wonder more is engine power related to plane weight. 109 like 109G6 has more HP per weight than P39 has, like N1 model, still P39 retains E much better when making loops etc. loop maneuvers with P39 are really effective against 109:S which feels wrong imo.

I will send it to you on msn in a bit if you want, weight propellers aerodynamics lift. The 109 was not very good aerodynamic design even tho the fuselage looks so it was the wings and rad which caused so much drag.

Well, the P39 was very aerodynamic, and the Bf 109 didn't have a very good Cd. This would account for some of it's(the P39's) good E retention.

But, like every other post in this thread, it is just speculation.

well, im not talking about hi speed flying, only some stall fight issue more likely, and i really wonder that P39 still can be that good in TnB Stall fight, to make such loops. just try it against 109. bigger weight etc, no slats etc. funny.
