View Full Version : How do you get most of your kills?

I've been at this for about 6-7 months now. I find that most of my kills are the result of attacking an enemy aircraft that is in the process of attacking one of my team mates. I've been hit that as well as many other ways. I was just wondering how the rest of you rack up your most of your kills.

I try to get the third type most of the time, but many times I end up shooting the guy that's chasing me and didn't watch his speed when I pulled the hand brake. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Two ways mostly.....I surprise them or attack EA that is in process of attacking one of friendlies.

Easy kills.

Mainly the first. If I see a buddy getting his butt handed to him I'll break off to help him get it back, but most of the time he's been handed it on a golden platter before I can get there. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

If I see a bandit below me I'll dive and pick him off, unless of course he's being attacked already.

Usually by taking a bogey off a team m8. I think it`s the easiest kind of kill apart from kill stealing. The bogey is usually so fixated on your friend that he`s almost a perfect target, add to that comms and your pursued friend can literally `position` the bogey in your sights for you! lovely when it happens like that.

Ambush a lower flying enemy. I try and use this technique in nearly all planes...I even did it the other night against a Hurricane while I was flying a Ki-27. Its just my preferred technique.

After the first few months I started to learn to hate the out and out dogfights. I still do it but I find its better to just blast the heck out of the enemy on the first pass if possible and then get the heck out.

I think "target fixation" leads to a healthy share of scenario #2 kills. That's what I usually try to exploit, preferably after swooping in with an energy advantage.

Not too many folks admitting to the last two. The results so far are pretty much what I've seen in my limited experience.

Normally by engaging WEP, then jamming the throttle to 110% while at the back of the line on the runway...Naturally dropping my bombs too.

Why do I keep getting negative points with so many kills each mission? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Thats not a bad way to get kills at all... I am sure your team mates appreciate it.. I hope they do.

Most of my kills are defenceless trucks, tanks, parked airplanes, ships that I blast away with bombs, rockets or torpedoes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Normaly while cruising at 2500m, paciently looking for low flying single planes.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gifLike yesterday night, I spotted a ME109, rolled inverted, full throttle and straight down. I never had the change to put a bullet on the target because half way down I lost my left wing. Just forgot I was flying a MiG-3, at 700kph+ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Since I suck at air-to-air, almost all my air-to-air kills are on an enemy fixated on a friendly.

But by far the most of my kills are far-from-defenceless AA guns and then their more helpless truck and tank buddies http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Voted 2nd option.
It amazes me that I seem to get aerial victories against fighters in this sim/game only in the same way as many real pilots described. An enemy fighter carelessly gets in front of my gunsight, and I just need to aim and pull the trigger. Well, that may sound boring to some, but in fact in a big engagement, it is quite a busy job to prevent that enemy fighter sliding onto my tail, so these 'circumstantial' kills still satisfy me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

First, I circle slowly at low altitude away from friendlies in my P-47.

Then, when the enemy shows up, I turn frantically, luring them in.

In the final stage, pieces of my ride fly off as they pound me with cannon, machine gun and occasionally rockets.

These pieces hit the enemy, killing them.

Stupid n00bs.

None of the options.

I usually try to sneak up on my opponents in their low 6 blindspot and blast them to bits with 20 mm when I'm too close to miss.

Exactly. You yawn when reading about it, but you feel like passing out after you've done it.

I chose number 4. =/

I try not to be cruel, I let them get some speed and altitude before I attack.

I don't do it because it's easy prey. I do it because I know I can find the enemy at their own airfield.

Passing out: hell yeah. Picture this: last Sunday we were practicing for an upcoming campaign, I was flying an IL-2M3 somewhere at the back of the formation. After dropping my ordnance (PTABs), I saw a Me-110 just turning around in front of me, trying to get some of the IL-2s ahead of me. I frantically fired 2 rockets at him, to no avail http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Then he did more twisting and turning while I caught up and then fired from all guns. I counted 4-5 cannon hits and I didn't follow it down, because I felt it wouldn't recover. It didn't. I got damage from the rear gunner, so I had to RTB immediately, but all the time I was thinking "I don't really deserve that victory because it was just a matter of luck" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You're asking the perspective of online players apparently. I'm offline and am such because I don't like the lag and warping associated with online play. That being said I'd gladly start playing more online, if one day there is a technological fix for lag and such. Once online is as glass smooth as offline flying, I'd gladly abandon my AI "team mates" for real human ones.
