If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for them? And did you find them a worthy read?

IMO they were okay. I can't remember what the prices were, I've already wrapped them. I think they were like $32 per volume.

Well the new owner will probably just put them back on ebay for $500.
And I always thought books were for reading!

I guess the subject, and the fact that it deals with the Soviet-Russian side in detail as well; a rarity, given the lack of Western researcher`s interest/possibilities in the area.

I have seen Volume 2 in the library, and while it`s a nice book, it has absolutely nothing extra to it. If you`ve seen a typical Osprey book of similiar subject, BCRS has about the same as quality/depth, though far longer in breath, 200-250 pages a volume; where it shines is the amount of hard work put into the research, in the end giving you an almost day-by-day account of aerial activities over the frontlines; what I didn`t like about Vol2 is the large amount of generalised, 'filler' statements and inaccuracies on technical data.

Don`t get me wrong, it`s well worth the original 30-odd USD price, but anyone who gives 300+ USD for an avarage/above-avarage popular-flavoured WW2 aviation book is out of his mind IMHO.. it goes for about 60 USD for used ones, which is acceptable, though I`ve seen some nutjob selling Vol 1 for 950!!! USD... at this price, I`d rather buy a Gutenberg bible. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think one of the things that drove the popularity of these books is the original flight sim - IL2 Sturmovik. A couple of books, BCRS and Attack of the Airacobras and this game all came out around the same time, IIRC.

BCRS is a good series. Kurfurst hit the nail on the head. VII is better than VI in my opinion.

I got the books, I read them, I enjoyed them, but I rarely open them now. If someone thinks they have great value and wants to pay $350 for them, I'm certainly going sell them.
