View Full Version : Luthier ! Any Chance of a Map Merge Feature ?

I have no idea weather or how much you developer people are going to Modify the Game Engine.
It has occured to me that groups fighting Online in Organised Online Wars have no element of surprise left for each other, when they decide to fight one of the Historical Battles.

In a situation where an Independant host merges two seperate Missions the night before to create a New Coop Mission I am speaking about here.
Midway would be a Classic example.
Would it be possible for a third party who is hosting a Coop to Merge 2 Missions built by Opposing sides on the same map, with out one Mission completly over writing the other, using the FMB ?
Or are we taking things too far?

Cheers

From what I know of mission files, that should be fairly easy to do either for the developers or as a 3rd party add-on. I'm not much of one for writing code, but I could do such a merge manually with nothing more sophisticated than Windows notepad.

It'd be a tad tedious though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Interesting concept, but I have to admit, when you said "map merge," I thought you meant a feature that would load a new map when one reaches the edge of another map.

For instance, the open sea map would be loaded when one reaches the edge of an island area map, and then another map would be loaded when one flew far enough to reach the next island area.
One would think this would be do-able if the maps loaded as the player flew through a transition zone of open sea below.
That way, we could fly to anywhere we wanted to in the Pacific.
