"Radar station goes for 61,000
A disused World War Two Radar Station in Ventnor has been sold in auction. The site on St. Boniface Down, which contains two buildings, a bunker and an old radio mast, went under the hammer in London yesterday with a guide price of 20,000. An anonymous bidder eventually paid 61,000. It's not known what the owner intends to do with the site. It's likely any planning permission for redevelopment will be turned down."

I hope its history is preserved. It was the only one in the UK to be successfully bombed during BOB.

I know the area very well. (I live on the Island, and used to walk those downs many times). The national Trust own most of the land on the downs at Ventnor, so i'm sure there will never be any real form of development.

Must 've been OM who bought it... just for the purpose of research ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

If so, it's history will be preserved!

Have Fun!
