This is my first post on the forums, so hello to everyone. I recently bought IL-2 as part of a 3 pack that contained: Standard IL-2, PF, and LOMAC. I love all three, especially the dynamic campaign present in PF, and wanted to get more into il2.

Now would you guys recommend getting forgotten battles or 1946, i dont really know much about the features of either one. And are there any big mods/addons that you guys feel are a must have?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Absolutely definitely buy 1946 because that IS FOrgotten battles merged into the whole series with 300 flyable planes.

1946 has :-

FOrgottten Battles
Aces Expansion
Pacific Fighters
PE2 Peshka addon
1946 addon
Sturmoviks over MAnchuria Addon
Every patch and update

1946 is a bargain, once you have it, you are totally up to date apart from one patch - 4.08.

ALso you can play on all the best servers once you have 1946. If you like Il2 offline, then you will LOVE it online.

If you are new then try out a server with relaxed settings like 334th or Ukded1 until you get used to flying and fighting http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif These servers allow cocpit off, external views and have big arrows pointing to the enemy. Very good for beginnners.

Once you get used to it you can move onto the harder, more realistic servers.

Have fun!

Now what you have to do is give PF to a friend that you think might be predisposed to a flight sim addiction.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I insist: Havok looks like a croissant in that avatar. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

One feels tempted to dip him in a cup of coffee.
