What if AC:B had guard dogs as a new enemy type? It would be able to sniff out Ezio regardless of where he is hiding, kind of like AC2's seeker.

I actually didn't like that in AC2 only spear holders were capable of flushing out Ezio, because it made little sense that only a guy with a long stick would be smart/paranoid enough to poke at a bale of hay. So I'm hoping that dogs would replace seekers as a dedicated sensor role. Also having a little more variety in enemies couldn't hurt.

Me too, I have no intention of getting rid of spear dudes altogether. I just want it so that only dogs are capable of seeing through hiding places. We'll still keep the spear dude around so he can stab stuff http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They're not. Normal guards with swords will also stab into hay stacks.

Yeah but only when they were chasing you and you are hiding!

EDIT: In the last known area!

Keep seekers and add guard dogs as entirely new form of enemy good idea.

But maybe not in Brotherhood.

AC3 definitely if it is going to be set in Modern Times

And you could have the option to capture lone dogs and tame them, to take messages to other assassins. Lol.

Nice idea btw, its strange AC has been missing this for so long.

haha it would be funny stabbing dogs with swords, but maybe it would work not a bad idea but i doubt they will add enemy dogs lol

No it wouldn't! That's terrible! Who would find it fun to stab a dog? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

If they were implemented I hope we could do is maybe kick them away (even that is a bit cruel) or merely hide from them!

Yep, I think it would be pretty cruel stabbing a dog... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

That's probably why it wouldn't happen. We can't even get away with killing civilians. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Wait.. so you guys have no problem stabbing/slashing/bludgeoning dozens of human guards in the most brutal fashion possible, but you balk at killing an animal? Call me crazy, but I just don't get it..

I for one would like to be able to kill dogs in game. Programmers can make the dogs look mean and ugly, maybe that'll make it easier for players to kill them.

I don't think that guard dogs would be pretty little puppy poodles, I'm pretty sure you would be able to kill 'em without much thought.

After all, what amugae says is true... if you can kill a load of humans then a dog or two wouldn't be too bad. Plus it would be interesting to see if they could get them so they could chase you. They'd be useless at getting you once you climbed anything, but on the ground they'd catch up with you very, very quickly...

Still, somehow...it's always so hard for me to kill dogs in games, ugly or not.

It's not the same as killing human guards...they're not cute puppy dogs. D: (Like how in movies, people are shown dying gruesome yet hilarious deaths but you always feel sad about animals dying, and they're not even shown being killed...eh. I don't really know either. *shrug*)

The problem most people have with killing animals in game, is because the animals are innocent. Human guards willingly choose to kill you, but them poor dogs are only trained to do so and have had no say in the matter.

Give them Rabies, then you'll have a legitimate reason for killin' them... plus if you got bitten you'd have to visit the Doc for some dried rabbit gutts http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I always look forward to World Rabies Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Rabies_Day), good times!

Well most human guards are probably innocent too. I'm certain that most of them have no idea bout the whole templars vs assassins drama. In fact most of them probably signed up to make a living and put food on the table for their wives and children. In fact some of them might have chosen to become guards to protect the city from evildoers. It's just that they all have the misfortune of getting in the way of Ezio's/players' missions.

And if you think guard dogs do not enjoy their job, you're mistaken. They are trained, no, bred to chase and fight. It's in their blood. And if they do their job well, they're rewarded by their keepers. So their existence may not be as miserable as you might think.

And yes, let's add rabies to the game. And when you get bitten and fail to goto a doctor in time, you become rabid yourself and start trying to bite people. And if you stay rabid long enough, when the moon rises you turn into a werewolf.

Maybe if you just chloroform the dogs or something, and you have to do it without the dogs seeing you because it would alert the guards if they started barking

Guard dogs can't distinguish between right and wrong. Like you said, they're just doing as they're taught, so yes, they're innocent. A dog isn't able to question what he's doing, a human is.

This actually sounds like a real good idea, because other then pigeons and horses there is no animals... (lets not get too crazy and just make this into an old world Red Dead) but the thought of dogs, sniffing out ezio, as he tries to escape actually sounds like a pretty cool feature.

You forgot the eagles. But yeh, some more fauna would be nice. Maybe some stray dogs that roam the streets at night as well. Would make the game come to life more, because as of yet, there's too little a difference between night and day.

if there is an issue with the dogs being killed which i would have( the poor things) why can't they just be used on a leash witha guard or they only bit you so you can't run anymore but then aren't involved in the fighting and run away when the owner is killed. if you could train them that would be mad as and assign them to your brotherhhod. hmmm where's the target gone? oh hot damn he just got stunned by my awsemo pack and then kaned by my proteges

That is a really god idea actually! If they are going to put the guard dogs in, have it like that! They can bite you to stop you from running faster or immobilize you for a while and they run away once their holder is killed and they run too fast so you easily lose them and you can't kill them (i mean the game is made so you can't like when you're around Courtesan's or something and you push the assassinate button all you do it bring out your blade, like that only with the dogs!)!

You would have to be tactical to kill that guard first so the dogs won't get you!
