I was just flying online in a Hurri IIc - first time since 3.04m in this a/c. I had a Me110 pretty much lined up, opened fire with my cannon and the darned thing started juddering back and forth like a wild thing. It was impossible to use the weapon effectively.

Has anybody else experienced this?

hmm are you sure that you didnt get hit by flak in the begining? if one cannon out of four is out its like someone is messing with your jaw

Not that I'm aware of. I'm gonna set up a QMB later and see if I can reproduce the effect - I've been flying this sim for over a year and I've never seen anything that even comes close.

Haven't tested the hurricane yet but the 4cannon spit also yaws when firing.

I find all the Spits yaw and pull very badly when firing, Ob. Trying to dial it out with stick settings but having no luck. Try the F4U-1c too, although that doesn't seem as bad.

If you fire them on the ground, engine off, you will see the effect even better.

I find it impossible to put more than the first round anywhere where it's supposed to go.(Spitfire)

So do the FW190A8 and A9 when fitted with Mk108s

No **** Sherlock. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

He means deal with it, you moron. The Luftwaffe flyers were using the duel MK 108's when the 151 wasn't effective and still managed with it, so quit your moaning.

Apologies, I deleted it - I was P***ed with something entirely different.

However, you compare recoil of a 30mm with a 20mm?

Don't worry Stathem I'm a big boy, I can take it....LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Tally just stated that he hadn't flown the Hurricane since 3.04...I was just adding to that that the Mk108's also shake the FW's more in 4.01 than 3.04 (to me anyway). And yes Rall too has a point, with ineffective MG's us LW flyers had takeup the Mk108's a lot of the time, we quickly had to learn how to use them effectively...basically its a close quater weapon only.

I flew a couple of single mission last night and all was fine.

The effect I posted about online was severe - more than the yaw axis was affected - the nose of the IIc was jumping around all over the place - impossible to use the cannons.

I seem to be the only one, anyway, so it doesn't look like a bug. Maybe I was flak-damaged - but I'd swear I wasn't.

Have you tried firing the guns in short bursts? Those guns in the IIC will kick around the airframe of an aircraft like the Hurricane. Those guns have kill power, but also as a result they have `kick` power too. Combine all that with new torque at slower speeds (as in slowing down to aim at target).

I think it's something that you may need to get used to. The cannons do kick a bit more in 4.01.

Went up against an average 110 in the Hurri IIc. I was surprised at just how stable the Hurri was.

It took me a long while to catch the 110, but I was able to hit him from quite far off(using zoom view) at about 6-700 m, if there was that much shake as you mention I would never had hit from that range.

Anyway, I got within 200m and fired a longish burst about 1 sec and took the 110 to pieces easily. It certainly didn`t judder like a wild thing.

Tallyho1961, is your stick very sensitive to your input? Are you using a twist stick? A person can almost unknowning cause more shake just by his own handling or sensitivity of the stick.

Compared a few otherplanes planes with the hurricane.

Spits and hurricane 2c jolts a tiny bit more than other fighters with less cannons.
P38 vibrates less so overall they still feel pretty ok to me.
The torque and the jolting when firing cannons makes it a bit harder to hit on longer ranges and u get thrown off aim if U fire continuosly with the 4cannonfighters , wich seems likely.

So one of those new things we have to get used to I guess.

What do you expect from a wood and fabric covered airframe (read: extremely light) mounted with cannons?

You're trying to compare against the heavier metal frame fighters.

There's a reason why most of the early four cannon fittings were not very well liked. The shaking was definately one of those things.

Bigger and more powerful aircraft were required to fit the 4 cannons effectively. How's the F4U-1C? I haven't tried that yet either.

there is nothing wrong with the hurricane, it must be somthing else...

Agree, Maybe just a temporary glitch of some kind.

Skabbe's right, the Hurricane IIc at least is A-OK & a rock-solid gun platform too. I found this out when I was after a couple of Ju-88A-4s w/ the Hurri in the QMB the other day: 1st I killed from dead 6 from 2-300m away, the 2nd I deflection-shot down from above soon after. And no probs at all...

It is very noticeable with Me109 fitted with MG151/20 gunpods. If you forget yourself when using them you won`t going to hit a broad side of a barn.

Yep, must've been a glitch. I'm just glad it isn't permanent.
