... stall characteristics. Just a first impression, but it seems to be a bit easier to get into one and get out of one.

Accepting other nominations in this category, though.

Yes. I can finaly fight in full real. Funny, I made my first in cocpit carrier landing, but in the track I stall into the water halfway through. Definetly the right track, the combat with Zeks was pretty distinctive. Close turning pass with guns, half circle, sheer one Zekes right wing on deflection, dive on wingman, close firing pass on wingman, my right elevater damaged with no control faliure, chase, he evades and cuts behind, I turn, gain alt, and force him into the water. Then make a perfect landing on my carrier. In the track I stall out at around 300 meters and spiral into the water right after xdropping after the wingman. That never happened.

Yep, stalls are a lot more realistic. The biggest change is the complete removal of the automatic spin when you stall. Now you only spin if one wing stalls first.

I'm going to keep saying it no matter how many times I'm ignored, but tailslides are actually possible now! Pull the plane straight up, cut the throttle, and turn the wingtip smoke on; if you're good, the plane will fall straight back before nosing over. Before, the nose would slide off to one side completely of its own accord before you even came close to a tailslide.

I often get strange results if I click the "save track" button after a mission. ".trk" files act really goofy whenever you take damage. The only safe way to save a track is to record an ".ntrk" from the escape menu.

You do know you can map a button to it in the controls right?

Making 3 point landings is MUCH easier in new FM, consequently is is also a lot easier to catch that wire on carrier's deck.

Yep! Now we just want a carrier hook for the J8A...

I'm liking it,had a few hours with 4.01 last night & I think it's great! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
love the way the planes go mushy on the stall...
and how the zero's torque rolls it when I try to prophang it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
funny how some of my flying buddies have had 'trouble' adapting to it,whereas myself and a few others have taken to it straight away.

maybe to do with stick setup & being used to using the rudder?

either way,it 'feels' a lot better.

regards,

Rev

Yes, tailslides are possible ... and if you have the speedbar on it shows "-10kph" as you drop backwards. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A tailslide is just what it sounds like...the plane falls backwards with the tail leading the way. You do one by pointing the nose verticle (looking out the wing to hold it) and waiting for the speed to bleed off to zero. IF you hold it perfectly, she'll fall right back on her tail before the heavy end (the front) finally falls over the tail. It's a hell of ride! If you don't hold it right, the plane snaps violently back on its back (bad) or forward over it's belly (can you say "extreme intracranial pressure?")

Today, only airplanes designed specifically for aerobatics can do tailslides. The forces on the control surfaces are extreme as the air flow reverses over them, which can lead to catastropic control surface failure. I not so sure if WW 2 planes were up to the task.

Do you even need one? That beautiful little machine'll roll to a stop in 20-30m. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

New FM is great! But, I have noticed a few "curious" things about it. Last night, on-line, I chased a 47 in a 51 and was creaming him from his dead six. He maneuvered hard in a relatively shallow climb and his plane somersaulted at least twice, right in front of me. I mean tail over nose somersault! After two or three of these, the plane righted itself in an instant and dove away.

Pretty funny to watch it occur.

Fm is great although I "dislike" the feeling, just the feeling not the game itsself if you know what i mean, of seeing my plane roll over to one side http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Can't help it, I know it's realistic but... I just get a funny feeling everytime I see the plane do that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

why tailslide when you can hammerhead stall.

tailslide is suicide in a dogfight

Jetbuff

RedDeth, it has nothing to do with dogfighting. Tail-slides are just fun, pure and simple... like a roller-coaster ride if you will.

Funny that, I have had one track where my entire flight didnt even exist and another where the enemy flight didn't. The latter was quite amusing, watching myself stunt about and ire at nthing for 4 or 5 minutes. I am sure that the CO checked the purity of the water supply after that mission.

If you can do a tailslide, make sure wingtip smoke is turned on. Watching out the front windsheild as the smoke trails go away from you out the front and into the sky is Awsum.

LoL boy do I agree with you.

the Tail slide thingy was there before 4.01.
I used to do it all the time. I'd put in external view and watch the plane slide backward. Then turn around. Some planes though were prone to do wing overs instead. but not all planes.
