Hi, hope you dont mind my posting something off-topic, but I have been thinking of upgrading my system and have a few basic questions.

My current system:

Windows XP Home edition Service pack 2
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.19GHz
512 MB RAM @ 3200(?)
Radeon 9600 Series
120 GB Hard Drive
Broadband @ 576 up, 256 down.

I was thinking of getting a new 3D card, and more Ram, while possibly upgrading my broadband to a 1 MB connection.

Ram wise, I was thinking of either upgrading by doubling it to 1024MB, or by tripling to 1536MB. But I honestly don't have a clue how much of a difference expanding it by so much would make, or if such an upgrade would be bottle necked by my processor?

I haven't really been keeping track of 3D cards since the Radeon 9800 came out, so am less sure about that. Ive heard of the "ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express", but again, would this even be compatible with my mother board etc?

Now, to finish it off, my most embarassing question.
How the friggin Hell can I find out what mother board I have?! I cant find information concerning it anywhere in contol pannel etc, I cant remember myself, and I have sparse paperwork from my last 3 computers laying around, leaving myself no idea which is for the current system. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Organised eh?
Does a A7V266-E Socket A Motherboard VIA KT266A Chipset DDR RAM sound reasonable? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So, basically is it worth upgrading my Ram and Vid card, and by how much?
Or would it be wiser just to wait, and then replace the lot in one go, motherboard, processor, RAM, 3D card etc in one?

Yimmy, you might want to copy/paste your post from this Forum to the Community Help Forum.... that's the best place to have your questions answered. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif 1C:Maddox Games/Community Help forum link - http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=frm&s=400102&f=49310655

Then you can come back to this one and delete it. This forum is more for asking questions about Pacific Fighters and not PC Upgrades.
