My guys deserve a break after their last patrol...Brought a cameraman on board this time around, but his blurry, rainy photos ended up leaving a little to be desired....They're okay if you like photos of my watchcrew in a rainsqual.....

The worst part was the area around Reykjavik...It got a little nippy up there....

I'm sure it could be...Along with the winter weather as well. They are touched up screen shots just to give people an idea. (hint hint)

**** I didn't give the fisrt shot a proper look at first, so I tohught you were just arguing for pennants withthe help of a real picture... Haha... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Can't say I didn't fall for it, nice work.

But I did notice the two black and white blurry pictures were SH3, but only after a serious look. They are really good!!!!
So what did you use and how?

MORE ACTION from grid AE.....

The weather became a little more forgving, allowing us to run into a small merchant...Beggers can't be choosers up here, and we were able to disable it with an eel, topside.

Horst, our photographer was able to capture this photo of Karl finishing off the ship with our deck gun. I guess he snapped it at just the right time...It's then when you realize just how much that gun shakes the boat when it fires.

I took these these photos on my last patrol. I was up up north skimming around and thought, "you know...we need some ice up here."
After my patrol, I took the photos (screenshots) in for development. haha.
I used just a basic graphics/media program like a "paint" or "photoshop".
I'm not a modder, but maybe someone (modder-wise) might check out these photos, in hopes of giving them some ideas.
I might take Horst (the camera guy) with me again on my next patrol. If I do, I'll post some more.

That simple... I'm impressed!

Do take Horst with you, if you want I can easily create a story for you if you provide the pictures.
I had inteded to create a story last night, but I got involved in a heated argument here, so the inspiration left me.

I'm thinking about an attached photographer, so crewshots would make such a story easier.

I'm telling you Ratek...This is what it's all about. Sure, my main mission is to sink as much tonnage as possible...I think I've accumulated well over 200k by now, but never more than 50k in a single mission...My hats off to you guys who can rack up over 100k per mission. My realism meter has risen lately, and am working manual targeting now, so consequently my tonnage is now all over the place. Some patrols I can get to 50k and some less then 20k. Don't think I'll be able to hit that 100k mark, but it's okay. That's the way it was back then. Even during the war, the best one-time patrol score was only 86k (Gunther Hessler U107) So I don't feel so bad. I'm kind of a purest in the sense of combat, so if I die, I do not save...I wipe out the character and start fresh with a new crew and new boat. I just get off on trying to recreate the game as if it were real missions. And by bringing Horst (my photographer) with me, I can now do that.
I'm starting to get attached to my crew now (mission 8), and photo's of not only them, but of future patrols are sure to follow.
As far as stories go, Sure Ratek...You got it bud, I can put something together for you. We should start mission scrapbooks, with screenshots that look like photos. I use roxio creator 7, and windows "paint" for my touchups, but photoshop or any of those graphics programs should work just fine...Well the patrols are getting hairier now as time goes by, but it should make for a good scrapbook. I have more than enough renown now to move from a VIIB to a IX, but I'm gonna wait a little while longer. I'm just having too much fun with this little VIIB. I lost my flack gunner in the beginning of the last mission, leaving Biscay (aircraft straif)...it was tough. He was a stud...
It was especially hard having to haul him around throughout the remainder of the trip. lol

Horst was looking a little salty by the end of our patrol.

By the way this last patrol....less than 25K, one plane shot down, and lost a man.....It was a rough one. Hence only four pennants on my boat, on my arrival back to Lorient. (top photo)

Good, then bring it on! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So if you want it scrapbook-style, then do you want it like a newpaper (Der Angriff perhaps) or a personal up-on-the-attic kind of style? The latter is easier, but is also very confined and has little room for 'artistic' licence.

I'm lousy with the various imageprograms, I never used them when I was younger, and now I have no need for it (and when you get older you get a bit more conservative).

I'm impressed withthe people who can manage anything above 40k with manual targeting and no WE solutions.
Btw, you do know that you can right-click on a dead crewmember to bury him at sea?

Ahhhh, Lorient. Tis a great port be a part of. Glad to see another Captain plying the seas from there. S!

Nice photos KRlSTOFF. Good to see them as most photos were back then... black and white.

GT182,
Thanks, I'm having fun with the photos.
Ratek,
I'll send you a "private" with my email...
Next time you go out on patrol, take screenshots and send the ones to me that you would like "old-fashionized" along with your email.
I'll send them back to you and you can then post them with your log. I have been reading Runyan's log (U-99 log)...It's AWESOME reading....I'm hooked. All he needs now is a couple of old fashioned type photos to go with it. I'm going to do the same thing....Going to start fresh with a brand new boat and crew (with Horst, my cameraman of course), keep a log with attached photos. If anyone else wants to do the same...send me a private with your email and screenshots and I'll mail them back to you in stylized 40's format.

I have updated hardware drivers and have put on a fresh install of SH3 w/1.4 patch.
Will attempt to keep a log of my new command much the same as Runyan's U-99, but will take along Horst, my photographer.
Realism settings will be on high, with the exception of the "God's Eye View". This is for Horst and his picture taking, however during combat and submerged, no one is allowed up top.
MODS used(aside from 1.4 patch):
- Have brought along extra gramaphone music and radio programs from early war years.
- enhanced smoke effect.

Have just completed the naval academy and will report back once I get my boat and orders...

Just started 4th career (first 2 ended prematurely, 3rd was a 20 patrols before I decided to retire, did not want to push my luck too far.) this time from Lorient. IXB slow to dive but gotta love that many torps.

Nice picture with the ice, I really like it. I do hope someday to see it in the game, not just on a make up.

I've never been up north, so at first I thought the shot with the ice was in-game. Very nice.

The sepia shot with the pennants is nice.

Funny, pennants are one thing I clearly remember from Aces of the Deep that SH3 does NOT have.

Thanks runyan. When I get my boat out on patrol, I'll try to keep a log like you. I'm going to put my cameraman, Horst, to work with photos of course, but what a wonderful idea you have. I've been reading yours daily.
I think we should now have a heading in bold letters in the forums section for players "u-boat logs". Each could post his or her daily log of their patrols.
Titled "U-xxx Log (player name)":
Ive read some really good stories and it would be really kind of neat to have a spot on the forums here specifically for logs.
Haven't gotten my orders or boat yet....am waiting. (actually work has kept me extremely busy the last couple of days and has not allowed me to sit down and sail on my first patrol)
Hope I get a good boat and good assignment.
