Two topics Ive written on the same topic. At the end of one, we ended talking about new shoes and new beer brand http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif. Whats going on???? I know the question is boring, but... pleaze anzwer!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Look http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif... I actually play on the following laptop.

Pentium Mobile 4 2,8Ghz
512Mb RAM
Intel 82852 (64 shared Mb)

It cost me 800" almost two years ago on dells webpage. On the average, I get 10 fps at maximum graphics quality, 1024 x 768 on a dogfight 1 vs 1, 1000 metres, clear, okinawa.

Im now going to buy the following laptop.

Core duo T2300 1,66 Ghz (equivalent to 2,2 Ghz on centrino)
1024 DRR2RAM
ATI x1600 256Mb not shared

This laptop is going to cost me 1400". Almost double than the dell laptop. You are all telling me that it shouldnt give me more than 20 fps on the same map!!!!! so... in other words... thats impossible!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

My laptop gives 64 on 3D Mark 03, 0 on ed 05
New laptop gives 6600 on 3D Mark 03, 3586 on 05, which is more than desktops X700 256Mb

So, new laptop must be... 100 times better than the other!!!!!

I dont know what to do!!!! pleaze help me!!!!

PS: If you help me... I promise I wont post any of this annoying discussions. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif (good offer, isnt it??)

Money does not directly translate into "video" FPS unless spent on a graphics card......Even then it has limitations dependant upon how else your system is set up.

IOW....Buy a PC.

Ok, I helped, now honor your promise;

There is absolutly no way for anyone to give you an accurate number in that not even you know what all will be running on your laptop while you play IL2........It's all speculation.

Tell you what, contact the manufacturer and ask them they would know better (yet will tell you the same thing).....If they say "yes, absolutly" have them put it in writing under the condition if it doesn't they'll refund your money entirely...(which they won't commit to either).

You're asking everyone to "guess" so you can talk about the laptop you want....All I can suggest is...Buy it and see.

You pay a lot more for a notebook system than for a standard desktop. It is also a lot easier and cheaper to upgrade.

Why not buy one of those instead of another notebook. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Sorry, lad. The only person who can answer your question is one who happens to own the same laptop you're considering and I'm betting there aren't any (or very few).

For what it's worth, I play on an old 1.7Ghz Thinkpad with 512mb memory and a proprietary 64mb video card and it runs quite nicely. But I only use it when I travel as it's no replacement for my home rig.

If you can afford both, though...go for it!

S!

Probably configuration number 1 will be better. Again, not fantastic for gaming but much better than the previous options. Core Duo is quite fast in the benchmarks but remember its still optimized for short duration sprints and not an extended gaming session. It will get hot...if they have thermal pads for laptops you may want to consider one.

I fly with a m8 that is using a Dell laptop. Not sure what the cpu speed is. But I know he is running a 7800 of some type and 1GB of memory. Retail costs nearly 2400. But he got it for a little over $1800, probably 4 months ago. And he tells me it crushes this sim as we have it now. High fr's with high eye candy settings, using an X52, and if I am not mistaken, a set of CH rudder pedals.

I went to the Dell site and found the model mainly by looking at the retail price and components. The next time we hooked up, I asked if the one I was looking was the one he is using and he confirmed that it was. It was the cheapest XPS laptop at the time.

So no doubt laptops are capable of getting the job done m8. But the heat must be massive.

Those are nice answers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks. The reasons Im needing a laptop are the following:

I need a laptop for work, but, as my budjet is so low, Ill prefer having it for work, and for gaming. Wish I were like you, willing to play everything at highest settings etc. Ive played all my life with the lowest end pcs. This time im not going to repeat the experience, and Im gonna play nice graphics and resolution. Im used to 680x480, so dont really care about that.

I dont really know how you are so exagerated. My **** laptop with 512RAM and old intel graphics with 32 shared mb, plays PF at 640 x 480, high - excelent graphics with 30 - 40 fps.

So I expect new laptop ill buy, at least, to double the performance. Old laptop and new laptop is like comparing "Rage fury pro vs ATI X700. maybe x700 is like 50 times bettter.

Please, dont exagerate, I know I cant get so little fps, and, remember from personal experience waiting for games. At the end, BoB will require a bit more than PF, not so much.
