Hello - total newbie here. I recently bought Pacific Fighters and have a couple of questions:

1) Recommendations for a good (less the $50 joystick)?
2) Can I play online with Pacific Fighters by itself since I don't have IL2?
3) Is the current patch still v4.04 for PF or is it something higher then this?

Thanks,
Task

Most now play the merged game, it's currently up to 4.08, the 4.09 patch being expected within a not too distant future. There are still servers offering PF standalone at Hyperlobby, but the players are few.

In order to get to 4.08, you'll need the 1946 game.

and hello and welcome to you

1- i would buy a good used stick on e-bay, say a CH, or MSFFB

2-yes you can on hyperlobby, but never very many pilots there

3-Yep 4.04

Thanks you guys. Also, I'm running Vista on my system and PF seems to work fine. Any problem with IL2 1946 on Vista? Much thanks

No problems with Vista that you wouldn't have encountered with PF already.

See my Updating 1946 link for specific advice, especially if you plan to use third-party utilities like MAT-Manager or UberQuick Mission Generator.

If you want a decent, cheap joystick and you want it now. Wal-Mart carries the Saitek ST290 Pro for $20. It works good for a starter stick. I used it for a year before I got my X52.

If you have a gameport, or are willing to install an old soundcard to get one (with the sound features turned off), Microsoft ForceFeedback Pro's off Ebay are bargains these days.

Just dont use a Gameport>USB connector as the FF wont work.

Mine was 5.99 boxed mint condition, I love it.

MS FF2's are USB but usually go for a lot of money.
