So, who do you think has most chance to win tomorrow ?

What do you think of a Ferrari "comeback" ?

DOWN WITH LA SCUDERIA

The Scuderia will be back, and probably take the championship again. They just need to let the other teams think they have a chance for a while, then look out...

For whatever reason, I watched first two races with greater interest than any other F1 race in last 10+ years.

They made the championship a lot more interesting.

I'm glad because of Renault, they always made big bang whenever they chose to compete. I'm also partial to BMW (I drive one in real life an also in this game).

But my heart goes to the Ferrari - a team with longest tradition and spirit, not some overnight high tech multi million dollar investment team.

i am so ALL OVER this

this year is going to be great !

its by far the biggest leap foward in the rules to open up the championship since the early nineties

same tyres for sat/fri qualify AS WELL AS the entire race

same motor for 2 race weekends

this year its anyones game

A Ferrari comeback? They have to have been away to comeback. Just because they're no the uber-dominant force they were hardly makes them also rans. I thought you got banned, nice to see aren't I was begining to miss you.

Renault have really got it together this year... the fastest car on the grid and it just happens to be the slickest looking as well.

You can tell Ferrari are nervous... they brought the F2005 out of the stable at least a grand prix earlier then they wanted to. I wouldn't discount the Prancing Horse. They'll probably give Renault a run for their money in the Bahrain GP.

I read you Ed!

Although I don't particularily like Scuderia Ferrari, I wouldn't mind owning one myself. Buying a used Ferrari is not entirely impossible, but maintaining one - Jeez! I would have to work for insurance, tyres and fuel alone. This is why I drive a 318is and not a M3! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

If I'm not mistaking, Jordan is using a Ford powerplant. But this is a far cry from Lotus 49/Ford-Cossie DFV combination. Those were the days of GP!

Redbull-Cosworth... the remnants of Jaguar F1. Not really Ford because they sold Cosworth when they sold the Jaguar F1 team but as close as you can get to Ford. I believe Cosworth is now owned by the 2 guys who own the Champcar Series.

Redbull has done remarkably well for their first season in F1... scored points in both of the Grand Prix so far.

Minardi also run a Cosworth powerplant but they tend to do cr@p no matter what engine they've got behind them. (My apologies if I've offended any Minardi fans out there)

My personal choice for the team to watch this year... Toyota.

histro why do u think ferrari always win... cus they are a multi million high tech team http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.... and as for tradiotion id say renault have the best... ferrari only came good 10 year ago if that... b4 that it was all renault and a few others ... mansell patrase.. hill.. viellneuve.. then it went to mclaren for a bit... and since then ferrari have only just kept hold.. and now it seems renault are back..
the only reason ferrari are "steeped in tradition" is because they are one of the old school racing teams.. thats all

Ferrari Enzo....tradition....1920s...1930s...1940s...1950s ...1960s...1970s...1980s(bad run)...1990s...2000s

If that's not tradition, I don't know what is.

Compared to that, all other teams are teenagers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Renault started in early 1980s, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, Ferrari is multi million company, but not like some Red Bull or Benetton who built the name elsewhere and decided to join the F1. Ferrari built its name on racing, big part of it being F1.

Villeneuve ? I think his father was better. And check what he was driving.

Ferrari wins because it lives by F1. Benetton wins because people buy clothes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

ahh who cares , there Minardi fans

they have it coming to them

& pourshot , its about the whole package , not just the racing , & the racing is more about tactics . all the drivers on the grid know the lines & can drive just about as fast as each other

with the rules the way they are this year , it makes it more exciting than ever , who's going to push it , who's going to baby it for the last 10 laps , its anyones championship this year

Not necessarily true... Ferrari have almost always been the team with the largest budget but it wasn't until they added Schumacher that they started to win convincingly. I can remember the early 90's when Ferrari had drivers like Alesi, Berger, Capelli, etc... they couldn't (literally) buy themselves a win.

I don't know how the Scuderia would be doing if Schumacher hadn't joined them. He came to the team and managed to bring some of the best engineers from Benetton with him (Brawn & Byrne to name 2). No matter what you say or feel about Michael... he knows how to win and he knows how to create an environment that breeds success. They will win races this year... you can count on it.

F1 is boring because of the 500,000 rules and regulations that ensure all the cars end up almost identical.

All it takes is a car/engine with 0.004 sec per lap advantage (the teams with the most dough and their own wind tunnel) and they pratically dominate the season.

That's why they call it "Formula 1" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Yes, it was more fun in the '60s and '70s, but a lot of drivers and spectators died and were hurt. Indy car (CART) and NASCAR, now that's boring. DTM & ETCC rocks!

Congrats to Alonso and Renault! Great show! Ferrari dominance finally broken.

histro the only reason ferrari win is because they just chuck money at the problem...

and then scrutinise other cars... is it ross brawn (farrari top mechanic) last season tried to report bar to the fia about them having a flexible rear wing (means at high speed u get less downforce and goes faster) and the fia turned round and said that it was exceptable and that ferarri should keep a closer eye on thier own wings b4 scrutinising other ppl's

oh and viellneuve... jr was driving a williams renault...
youll find renault have been round in f1 for 30 years... not as long as ferrari ...and then theres mclaren in 1960's but still hardly teenagers... plus the only way renault make money is by selling cars... much like the owner of ferrari makes money for them by selling fiats http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and check yer sources m8.. its never benetton renault .. that was only when they made engines... after making engines for other teams renault entered f1 in its own right....

Keep in mind that Shumacher was right behind Alonzo when the transmission broke. Alonzo even said Shumacher was faster. It's a long season, and nothings in the bag yet.

btw..If the one with the most money wins. Toyota would win them all.

the teams that have the most resourses (BAR/Toyota) dont always do well , its who does the most work at tuning off-season & thru the year

without the talent behind the wheel , OR the design desk , you aint going to get anywhere , then you got to get your fresh , fast car sorted too the sweet spot for your drivers

F1 is a team effort & its part speed & part tactics that win you races

Edit : GO McLAREN !

Enzo Ferrari was the head of the Alfa Romeo grand prix team in the years before WW2. In fact the first cars to wear the "Cavalino Rampante" (the famous Ferrari emblem first used by WW1 ace Francisco Baracca) were the Alfa Grand Prix cars fielded by Enzo Ferrari's team.

Enzo eventually had a falling out with Alfa and left to form his own company, one of the stipulations was that no car could use his name for a certain number of years. so the first car built by Ferrari was called the "815". A small open 2 seater that used a straight 8 engine of 1.5 litres. WW2 started before any more cars could be built and Ferrari's company turned to making machine tools for the Italian aircraft industry.

After WW2 the old deal with Alfa was long forgotten and enzo made the first "Ferrari", the Typo 166, and the rest is history...
