Perhaps this has already been answered, maybe even in an older AC1 thread, but does anybody have any idea why there are only adults walking the streets in AC games? I can somewhat understand why in AC1, with being a time of war and all, but why not in 15th Century Italy?

Because someone, somewhere would find a way to kill them.

Good point Crash_Plague. Someone would do it, post it on Youtube, and Jack Thompson would be all over Ubisoft. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think children would be a great addition to AC3. How about if you kill a child you get automatically desynchronized, instead of given two warnings like with civilians, and enemies won't attack them so you can't pull the poison+money trick.

But then children should be a faction which you sort of keep on 'standby'. Then, when you're surrounded by enemies and need to get away, you whistle and the children take you away from harm Raiders of the Lost Ark-style. After all, guards wouldn't hurt their own children.

Even with the Desync penalty, I have a feeling that people would still try to kill a child. However, it would make the game seem more realistic to include them. After all, children did exist back then. :P

Or, tUbi could have it that you cannot actually kill them in anyway, not even grab them. And, I think the Indiana Jones idea isn't half bad! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

GTA doesn't have children either, it's all about rating, if they added children to games like this without making them totally untouchable it would heavily push up the age rating, in AC2 (a 15) it would push it to a 18 if not getting it a ban in the majority of countries.

Even if you couldn't kill children, having them be spectators as you brutally murder guards is probably a little over-the-top.
Wait...didn't they hang a 12-year-old at the start of AC2?!? Poor Petruccio.

it was a one off thing used to advance the story, it's like in films kids can get killed but if they started showing it often and done for no apparent reason it would affect the rating more.

*SPOILERS* *SPOILERS*

I don't know if this counts, but in Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, the novel, there's one part in the story about the battle of Forli, the upcoming DLC.

Ezio rescues and escorts 2 of Caterine's Sforza children from the Wetlands and back to Romagna. Not sure if that part will be a mission in the DLC but if it does then we can expect to see the kids.

Not many games in general have kids to begin with and as pointed out for the simple reason that the general public would be up in arms if there was even a remote chance you could kill one.

Yup... we're allowed to pretend to kill adults en masse and hardly anyone bats an eyelid, but as soon as anybody even thinks about pretending to hurt children there's mass uproar!

I think Bill Hicks put it best:
What does that mean? They reach a certain age and they're off your ****ing love-list? **** your children, if that's the way you think then **** you too. You either love all people of all ages or you shut the **** up!
