Hi all,

Tommy Flowers was a modest British guy who designed Post Office telephone switching equipment.

He built the Colossus computer to Turing's theory in order to decode German Enigma cyphers. He spent 10,000 of his own money to build this computer which shortened the war by two years.

After the war he was given 10,000 by the British Government as a reward for his work.

The Colossus computer was sent to the USA aftr the war and founded today's computers.

Anyone here heard of Tommy Flowers??

Yeah, it's stomach turning what we let go after the War http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif Did'nt he work alone on the early designs of Colossus, like Barnes Wallace did with the Bouncing Bomb... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Bet he didn't even get a Blue Plaque stuck on his house... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

"There has been a stunned silence from across the water!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I bet there was... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
