where can one find 109 tactics? russian fighter and FW 190 tactics seem readily available (airwarfare) - but what about other fighters?

Bubba, You can start here.

http://www.bf109.com/frameset.html

Or, perhaps here

I think, there aren't as many "how too's" on the 109 because it lends itself to dogfight so well. Just remember to watch the speed (diving) so you dont't get the "109 rash" Galland himself said "You're a hunter in a Messerschmitt." Final thought... Guns! You must be a shooter. This IMHO is the secret to success with the 109. Gallnds book the Schiessfibel can be linked to here.

Along with much, much more!
But don't forget, after you've flown Willy's kite to the edge and back; get into a 190 because it is the Schizzzznit

It can be hard to find a single site or book wich give full explanation of tactics.
The normal thing is to get bits here and there.
In best case a long process.

However.....
To be able to use any tactic successfully u must also know how the plane u attack compares to your own. Is it faster? turns better? and so on.
After u have determined that u can choose the right tactic.

The 109 was a good allround fighter and early in the war had the speed, accelleration and climb advantage.
This ment it could engage or disengage at will compared to the opponents who couldn't run away even if they wanted to.
So although the 109 is capable of turning its better to use the speed for slashing attacks so the opponent cant catch u so easily.
Any turningfight gives the opponent a chance to win.
In my opinion the two main tactics for the 109 to look up is "BnZ" (boom and zoom) and "scissoring" (simply put a zig-zag fight)
The Bnz is for attack and the scissoring is a way to get out of tight spots where the enemy has ended up on your tail. This may eneable u to reverse the fight.

The 109 doesnt turn better than many allied planes at their best turning speed but really shines in really slow speeds and in a tactic called scissoring where u turn in zig zag trying to make the opponent overshoot or stall in the slow speeds and constant directionchanges. The scissor is mainly used if the enemy is behind u or when too close and fast to outrun.

Planes like yak1, p40, p39,hurricane and even spitfire becomes hard to handle in very slow speeds in the scissor where the 109 have better accelleration and gentler stall.
Note that a fight against any of these opponents isnt easy and if they are experts and u are not they will win if u engage them in a turningfight.

a few thoughts..
