I bought the Collectors Edition / Special Edition box set and I am very impressed. This was the best of the Myst games.

I was a bit dissapointed that the game was not longer. I finished it quite quickly and I only used the help map a couple of times, mostly to prove to myself that I WAS actually on the right track. (It is amazing what confidence can do...)

The parts I really enjoyed were the voice acting and the music. I also enjoyed the attachment to the players. The ending actually affected me much more than the endings of most games!

On the bonus DVD, the 'making of' videos were very good. I waited until I finished the game before watching them because I was afraid of spoilers, but there were none in the movies so I could have watched them first. Watching them made me realise that I could actually play the game again and see areas that I never knew existed! (I must wait a while, though, HL2 is about to be released...) The MP3s on the disk were a nice touch, although I was rather hoping that the song from the credits, and dream, would be there. It was missing.

The box design was really good. I like it when game producers take time to think about the little things, like the box.

As far as stability is concerned, I NEVER saw a bug, and I ran the game with no patches. It is very rare that a game, off the shelf, is actually playable. Well done testers.

Finally, I must ask for information:
1. When is the next Myst game planned? Is there another one Planned? If not, who's to blame?
2. Where can or how can I get a MP3 of that song from the credits / dream? This was sorely missing from the bonus DVD. Why?
3. It is not normal for Myst games to have expansions, but the Myst IV engine is so great, you could safely use it for another Myst game. Will there be an expansion this time?

Great to hear you enjoyed it Stephen. I'll be sure to point your questions out to someone who should be able to answer than better than I.

But as far as I know..

1): Cyan has a game currently known as Bigfoot or "Something Else". It is not necessarily another "Myst" game. But knowing Cyan it is likely to be within the same Universe.

2): I believe, but don't quote me, that the song is available on the Music CD for this game. I also believe a future version of this CD may come to be available, which will have mroe songs, which would more than definitely have this.

3): Possibly, but odds are it would be highly improved. As it stands Cyan's next game is likely to use the same Uru engine. Odds are Ubi will also release another Myst game -- but might not depending on sales - although they do own the rights to all Myst titles until 2008.

And that's all I know.

I bought the collectors edition because I knew that Myst soundtrack is always really good, and the box said that the bonus disk had the music. I am not about to buy the sountrack CD for the one song that never made it onto the collectors edition bonus disk! Very dissapointing UBI...

Stephen_C_M: Aha http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Hadn't fully realized that. (BTW, I'm not Ubi, just a mod with BMFE: Blame Maztec For Everything - obviously it's my fault &gthttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The Collectors Edition isn't available in the USA http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif So I'm not as familiar with what is included within it, as I should be.

I do believe I read somewhere that the bonus disk was fairly short.

By the way, I believe there is a user-made extractor for portions of the game. You may be able to extract the song you want using that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
