I am a complete noob. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Could someone post a response on how to successfully skip bomb? I have difficulty dive bombing and would prefer a low level approach.

Set you bomb delay to 1.5 or more if you like

I use 1.5 now, then load up with 2x500 or 2x1000

Go to ships/subs get right down low on the deck maybe 60m or less then once your relativaly close to the ship let the bombs fly, its just like skiping a rock on a pond, the faster your going the farther the bombs will skip, Make sure as soon as you drop to turn right or left & go slightly vertical that way the bomb blast wont blow you to bits

Good Luck

Set a bomb delay. Historically, the 5th AF used 4.5 seconds. Anything over 1 second is probably fine.

Come in on a shallow diving approach. Get your speed up to over 200mph, I like between 225 and 250 (360-400kph). You can be as low as you like, you want to release in level, or maybe slightly climbing flight. Strafe 'em if you've got 'em http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif You'll have to experiment with drop distance based on what approach speed you prefer. With the delay fused bombs, you can drop closer than without them (which is actually a minor problem since in RL, the bomb might go clear through some merchant hulls which won't happen in PF. Still better with delay than not, however). The higher you are, the farther away you'll want to drop. It's easy to practice, so get a feel for where the ship should be under the sight when you need to drop.

Quick and dirty skip bombing:

Fly low and fast - under 50m the faster the better. Drop your bomb whilst in level flight within about 100 - 200m of the target (a few practice runs and you'll settle on a preferred distance). Pop up over the target and keep on going.
Note - this is for version 3.01, as you can set a bomb delay - 3 or 4 seconds is good.

In version 3.0 or lower your bomb must have zero delay in order to damage ships - in which case it is highly advisable to break left or right immediately after the release.

Cheers

Bomb delays don't work on ships, unless thats been changed in 3.00 or 3.01. You have to come in low and fast with no bomb delay for ships. Just don't blow yourself up! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Never mind, I really should read all of the posts before replying. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Good to see that they've changed that though.

But I download them, and play them, and all I get is 16 colors. The sky is solid green, and the ocean is solid red, and the rest is made of of speckeled blotches.

Do I need some special codec or driver or something??

Is this happening to anyone else?
