Who here would like the idea of a single large map encompassing all of geographical areas involved in the BOB a la a "Lock On" type map. One nice thing about that kind of set-up is that most of the infrastructure is already placed for mission building. Even nicer would be the option of choosing a date in history and having the map change accordingly in terms of weather and ground objects/airfields.

I don't know to what degree Oleg has talked about BOB and its maps but I thought this was worth mentioning.

Im just hoping Battle of Britain dont use the same small square maps like fb aep pf does, and has a much higher visability range.

Im also hoping they get rid of the horable synth sound engine as well.

Yes I agree wholeheartedly on those points. Tiny maps, bad design for higher altitudes and not-so-great sounds would have to be the three big detractors for the current engine.

I think weather is the number-1 on the list of "needs to be improved"...

Anyway I think one big map would be nice if possible, I also like the idea of setting time and have the map change historically. But I think it´d be enough if you set the year and then the amount of airfields and stuff changed...

months ago, oleg was interviewd about BoB. there he said it will be one big map for the whole combat area.
proplem, its long time ago and few people know the actual standart.

BUT , it would be sensless for a BoB game if you couldnt fly at least from Calais to London on one map http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

No, I'm pretty sure Oleg said that Britain will be on one map, and France will be on another. The English Channel map will come in a free addon.

The sounds will be recorded from authentic R/C models of the same planes.

Oh, and the bf-109 will be left out for copyright reasons. It will be replaced by the Messerschmitt car, which will be drivable and go 200km/h and drive over water and have a MG151 turret (with MG and HEIT only).

Remember when Oleg made joke in interview that FB would require two (2) CDs in computer to start game? That started a community Panic not seen again until UBI showed pre~releace screenshots of TB~3/SPB "Zvenyo" or Stack, when our Luftwaffe simmers thought it was some 1946 Russian weapon (they never saw it before). That caused a Panic here.

Brand new game map - TBoB will take place from central England in the North, to Northern France in the South (The part of map will include Belgium - area close to French border, from where were flying Italian AF, involved in BoB). The game-world will consist of a single large map and will encompass cities, towns, roads, airfields, radar stations, ports, and industrial areas.

i hope they remodel the towns instead of having the ones we have now

The thing that really will take this game places is that its from scratch. What we have now is a revamped engine from 1999 or so. Not that I'm complaining the IL2 series is amazing but its time to put it to rest and take things to the next level.

Honestly I was hoping for some sort of connector between maps. So that maybe there could be three huge maps that cover from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and move Westward all the way to the port of Danzig or so. That would pretty much cover all aerial action in the Battle of Britain and we could finally have bombers fly (if not fly them ourselves) all the way from Southern England to targets in say Berlin. Then have like 2 second load screen when you move from one map to the other.

That would rock.

So, if i compare to the orders of battle for the Germans from this page (http://www.battle-of-britain.com/BoB2/Diary/Order/order_Luftwaffe.htm) we will have only one base of German HE111 in "Lille-Nord" on the map.

I m not sure that we will see London in flames with BOB ...

It would rock...its out of the scope of the game...but I can see there being some effort so that if you wanted to fly between maps it could work...not sure if they can fit such a large series of maps together or what...thats alot of objects and whatnot. Something will have to be worked out.

Just look at our Gulf of Finland map. Its about 250 megs but is gotta be what? 250 miles long? I mean go a little bigger, a 300x300 mile map would cover the entire scope of the battle plus a little bit of area of the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean for maybe some future patches/updates/add-ons for some Royal Navy/Kriegsmarine action.

Heres some scale maps to see what were looking at for BoB.

I would love a video feature seen in Far Cry (another UBI published game)... the multi rendering modes (not ATI's multi-rendering).

IL2 FB AEP PF has a great look for the ground in comparision with M$ flight games, but it looks a little "Gamish" because of to great saturation of the colors in the ground textures. Playing with some video editors I've seen that the ground looks better with a filter of 50-60% Black and White. I would like to desaturate my view in the next sim by 1C with a feature like that seen in "Far Cry" or something similar.

Also some shaders would be good.. Motion blur, depth of field, somebody stop me... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
