This in the context of the Johnny Jonhson FW-190 combat quote...

Here's the thread:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com...topic,295840.60.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,295840.60.html)

Here is the context of the original quote:

http://img30.imageshack.us/img.../jjohnsononfw190.jpg (http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4716/jjohnsononfw190.jpg)

Hitech is a pilot who flew P-51Ds several times.

I'll also note that on this board moderator Xiolablu3 also described "vertical bank" as being a vintage diminutive slang for a "vertical bank turn".

Note also, among other things, this opening remark of this account written by Johnny Johnson, which sets the intended purpose and context of the entire story: "It (the FW-190A) also turned better (than the Me-109)".

This is the post-war opinion of a 32 kills allied ace...

I will look for further evidence of this curious "vertical turn" vintage slang, but its meaning within this text is no longer disputed, even by so-called "experts"...
