I have 9800. and I think it was the via chipset driver that made it go. more fun to get it to run than to fly it. oh well, anyone need coasters, I'd like to have my 50 bucks back.

It took you two years to find out what I did in one week. I took great pleasure in burning the CD.

oh, I do like the fact that it has a mosquito, great plane, would make it's own sim worth while, recon, bombing, low level, twin merlins, wow.

Ok, I`m so tired of putting down CFS3 and kicking it in the goolies ad infinitum that I`m going to point out it`s good points!

1. Nice ship fleets. CFS3 mananged to have quite a lot of ships firing off the coast of France or England. If you bombed a ship they blew up really well (like in real life). And sank realistically with a large pool of black oil. All you needed were little dots of men jumping off! *

2. Ground explosions of just about everything was very nice. Things really BLEW UP like you see on footage and how you`d expect them too. IL2 explosions are ok, but they don`t really give that terrifying `bomb devastation` feel. *

3. The war could go into 1946! With `what-if` aircraft joining the fray! Great idea not very well implemented unfortunately.

4. Britain getting invaded. Fighting over ST. Pauls and the Houses of Parliament in your Spit! Now that was really immersive. I found myself saying, "Get off my England you gits!" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That`s about it. Note the `*` This means that most of the time I got lots of stutter, lots of slowdown, lots of frustration, which whenever I thought i`d got it right always reverted back.

I am of course ONLY focusing on the good bits of CFS3, if I went on my rant on the bad bits, well this post would be at least 4 times longer! I tried it for 2 months, then the Patch came and it still left some terrible flaws.

To summarise, CFS3 could have been good, but it didn`t have the love it needed to make it great. It never had the follow up, the care and focused (in the wrong way) just on the money. Bad mistake.

Now if Oleg could have taken charge of CFS3... ahhh http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

ps. Just noticed that my good things of CFS3 actually say nothing good about the aircraft compared to IL2 ... That really says it all.

Wonder Woman view in CFS3 stunk too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If it wasn't for the terrain graphics being so poor, CFS3 might have made it a little further than it did. Now if CFS3 had Oleg's terrain graphics or even the graphics from EAW, it would have helped immensely and possibly saved it's butt.

A/C with the Mudmover 1% mods made them better, but still not as good as IL2s a/c FMs are. Microsoft never listened to any feedback and that was their biggest downfall.

BTW, I'm glad everyone's destroying their CFS3 cds. It'll make mine worth a couple of zoltars more. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif LOL

Like CFS3, I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could even find some good things to say about Charlie Manson...

I've bought bad games before, but for some reason I've never felt as ripped off or cheated as when I bought CFS3...

Maybe it was the buzz I got to think we could fly the mossie, etc only to find the game was cr@p. Or the thought of a company the size of Microsoft not even bothering to put out a decent product - or even caring. That is the huge diff between Oleg and Microsoft...Oleg cares and MS seems to make of point of showing they really don't care.

Got it when it first came out and haven't played it since I got the original IL2 soon after.

Agh! Forgive my moments of sinful weakness, oh One of the Inquisition`s Faithful. I shall of this moment cover myself in a sackcloth and ashes and lash myself repeatedly until I fall unconscous from the sin-killing pain! I RECANT OF MY SINS!!! I REPENT!!!!!

But first i`ll just answer bearcat`s question:
All these observations were in the unpatched CFS3. The last straw for me (after the Patched version) was when i overflew a FW190 whose pilot had bailed and the empty plane opened fire on me!

I've load CFS3 on my harddrive every time I upgrade or seen someones add-on that might enhance the game. Tweak for a few hours then fly for half and hour enjoying an enhancement or two then realizing overall its still horrible.

When I ordered Track IR 3 Pro with the Vector add-on I thought I might reload CFS3. What a relief..... the game won't load anymore... I can't believe how happy I was. Its saved me hours of frustration...Ye Haw...
