Running prey try everything, including flying under the kitchen sink! (http://www.actionart.ca/index1e.htm)

Overstreet wasn't letting his 109 run away.

But then again, if you're dumb enough to believe that story you're probably broke so never mind.

Bad art? Why? because of what it depicts? That does not make bad art.

This is why an artist need balls of steel if you do action aircraft art on this forum, especially where people really get upset if you show a particular plane getting `owned` by another.

Draw a 109 being shot down and all the Axis call it `bad art`, draw a P51 getting shot down and you`re evil too.

An artist draws what he feels like drawing at the time and we have to simply NOT CARE what all the opinions of everyone else is. we don`t add all sorts of baggage to our pictures.

In fact, I find that I personally, get no complaints if I show a British aircraft going down in flames rather than US, Japanese or German!

But I don`t care what people think and will draw/paint what I want just like this guy does. Of course, pay cash and then you`ll get what YOU want.

Sorry for my rant. I just get annoyed when people call art rubbish not because of the art but because of the subject matter. but then the artist and the viewer see things in different ways.

Time for me to do some artwork to annoy others without even trying.

Think people mean its bad art when someone is trying to depict an event that proppably never happend and passing it of as "truth", not so much the picture in itselfe.

If it infact did happen beyond any doubt i for one wouldnt brag about chasing a enemy from bomber alt down to grassroot level, down over a heavely AAA defended city, under a big**s tower...before i finally downed him....i for one would be affraid of beeing called stupid or incompetent...or both. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

Come to think of it....it sounds awfully like any heavely crowded DF server on Hyper lobby, u know, the servers all the "aces" here laugh at.

I figured he'd called it bad art because it depicted a silly scenario (that the pilot doesn't even claimed happened) and because it had poor lighting, strange colors, random focus, and iffy perspective. Not trying to be rude at all, but it needs some work imo.

He's not dumb, you are. After interviewing Bill for some time I feel it's highly unlikely he is making it up. Also, he had a newspaper clipping from a Paris paper confirming it.

It might not be wise to comment on something you obviously know nothing about.

You could go call Bill a liar to his face but I bet he could still whip your butt even at 86 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Umm, yes he did. Obviously everyone likes something different and I'm happy to say a lot of people do like it, it's almost sold out.

There are so many know-it-alls out there that think they know everything that ever happened and very quick to dismiss anything unusual.

Now I'm not claiming to know if this happened or not, but is this really that hard to believe? It's not like they are trying to drive through a car tunnel or anything extremely narrow. Looks like there is quite a bit of room underneath that waffle tower thing and I'm sure if you felt confident enough in your skills, you'd as well, would try to shake a bandit off any way you could. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You're certainly right. There is plenty of room to spare and considering stunts done by current air show pilots this is easy to believe, and considering the temptation, almost certain to happen at some point. By the way, Bill wasn't the only one who did it. A P47 pilot did it too and there most likely was others. Recently, even a Cessna pilot. It's on youtube.

Great pic AA... Very nice work. I see you have 4 posts here as of this page... I assume that means that you are new to these boards. Have you tried the sim yet?

I remember CFS 1 had Paris... We used to fly under the tower in it as a qualification test.

That tower is a tempting target isn't it. No, I haven't tried the sim but I would REALY like to. I've seen it a number of times but just don't have the time...maybe when my kids grow up a bit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Doing aircraft art for this forum is always a bit of a pain. I remember the last pic I did for here took me longer on how and what planes to depict than actually making it! I was going to have a japanese plane shot down in flames, then a p51, then a 109 with a woman crying in the background, but ultimately decided on the Spitfire going down. It was a sad pic, but I liked it.

It`s a lot easier just doing them for people off the forum!

Anyway, more done and I got a local museum to but a couple of traditional type pics. Woot! Working on more.

Keep it up! There are always critics, who cares. Do what you want. I don't do mine for anyone in particular but there are always lots who like it.

Here's some history on Bill, he's had quite an exciting life!

http://www.gml2007.com/legends/overstreet.asp

http://www.theroanoker.com/favoritearticles/Heroes_mj06/index.cfm

Lots of close calls! He really is a character and fun to talk to.

One time he said he was coming home from a mission at very low level and as he come over a hill, there was a young girl walking down the road. As he flew by she lifted up her dress. He said "I'm not sure if she was trying to kill me or just being friendly!".

Maybe I'll do that scene next http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good luck to you too.
