A guy over at netwings forum posted this:

as you can read, he can't post on ubi forums (messages "you have been banned" )

It seems that the server has some errors from time to time. Anyway, the P51 seems to have a bit too long gear struts and the radiator doesn't close as it should.

Could someone from the dev team check it please?

The radiator flap is incorrectly modelled as can be seen in the real P-51 photo. It is not 'close properly' - should be hinged at the front.

Something seems wrong with the strut/fairing. Either the strut is too long or the fairing is too short. Unloaded the fairing should be between the tire's outside dia. and the wheel rim.(from a photo of a P-51 jacked up to remove it - stuck in mud)

What is needed is an air photo of the P-51 with the gear down.(landing to be sure the dtruts are unloaded)

The struts aren't compressing the ammount they should. I've noticed this also with the P-47. The landing gear on that aircraft should actually lengthen several inches when it's extended.

My guess is it's a limitation in the grahpics engine, that it can't handle components that extend or contract on the aircraft.

No the P51 model is absolutely correct and will not corrected in future.
In IL2FB are no faults in those things.

I think all pictures of the P51 are other versions and Oleg did it right.
Also what Pilots are saying doesnt mean anything.

Be sure!

Those photos just show that in FB it is correct. You are looking at it from the wrong angle, be sure.

What about the vent hatch...it looks like its just a pivot point error in FB rather than a modeling issue.

Does the relief tube in the virtual cockpit work?

It is a modelling error because the hinge point is wrong./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

OK, I found a photo while looking for more 'bone yard' photos for my thread in GD.

The bottom of the landing gear fairings of a landing P-51 are between the wheel rim and the outer dia. of the tire, but closer to the wheel rim, not at the tire's outer dia as seen on the Il-2/FB P-51.

Conclusion, Il-2/FB has the P-51 modelled in-correctly.
