View Full Version : Hours per week spent playing IL2?

Just wondering how many other folks out there spend WAY to much time at this game? I've started to set a specific time limit on when and how long I can play. I'm finding online in full-real servers to be the most addicting. I still stink but I can occasionally score a kill and the satisfaction of landing a clean kill is the most addicting thing of all! Here's to hoping I get better and my kill to death ratio improves markedly!
I did, however, have the honor of being shot down last week by no other than Crazy Ivan. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

What's the average hours per week that some of you guys and gals play?

I guess I average around 7 - 14 hours per week. And then there are also my real flying sessions http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I don't even play Il-2 anymore.

However, I have flown 24.3 hours in the past 6 days flying airline flights via Active Air Source in FS2004.

Most of those flights were of the take-off-engage-autopilot-set-timer-and-come-back-when-you're-100nm-away-from-destination type airliner flights. So I wasn't really at the controls the whole time. But it sure makes me look hardcore nerdy! Longest flight I made so far was a ~9 hour flight from Boeing's facility in Washington to Heathrow to deliver a new 773 for British Airways.

Difficult to say...some weeks I spent maybe 15-20 hours during the week. Other weeks its more like 1 or 2 hours at the best. Depends on the week I'm having.

If nobody is around, the house is quiet, nothing needs doing, and its the dead of winter...yeah maybe 15-20 over the span of 7 days is possible. Right now...busy as ever, stuff to do, people to see, middle of summer...i'm lucky if I fly at all. It varries.

Addictions are when you can't put it down. I safely can put it down and not worry about it. But I do love flying in my spare time. Since I do tend to have alot of it sometimes then its quite alright to fill it up a bit. Maybe I could be more productive somewhere else...but this is brain candy and I need it sometimes.

Hmm its changed alot for me now

From about May 05 - Feb 06 i would fly for roughly 9-10 hours a day (usually 7pm-5am) 5 or 6 days a week. Thats crazy now that i think about it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Now i spend a more reasonable 2-3 hours in the night, maybe 2-4 nights a week. My actual life is much more improved now though, so i dont get time to fly, or even feel the urge to like i used to. It was definately a learning experience. I learned never to neglect my real social life again...consequences can be severe http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Well I bet they were hacked off when you delivered their nice new airliner in the wrong numerical order.

Assuming you're talking about a 737, can one actually make the trip from Seattle to Heathrow without re-fueling? That's not bad for a weeny wee jet if it can. Not bad at all.

Nonono, I meant 777-300.

opz!

I barely made it, with 13% fuel remaining. And that after having 50-80 knot tail winds most of the time!

5-6 hours a week.

I've taken days off, do 8 hours in a day, but not continuously.

i spent between 40-70 hrs a week. im pretty bored of it now..so its about an hour a week if that at all. AI feels well..artificial (as it should) and online servers just really dont offer FRESH planesets. they just swap out a model here or there for a few maps. after that concept for a few years...it sucks.

ive picked up drawing again, and started doing work around the house to make it better. makes me feel better as well. im actually DOING something now. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

About the same now.. I tend to go online for a about 4 hrs per week now and try to make it quality rather than quantity..

Hehe, same here. I last flew IL2 back in the AEP addon days, and from original IL2 to then was more hours than I can remember. I can still hear the IL2 engine sounds roaring in my head...

And I think I probably browsed these forums as many hours as I flew! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Since the war ended, I've I'm flying Boeing 727's in FS2004 mostly.

Let's see. 8 hours on Saturday evenings with my squadm8s. 3-5 hours on Sundays & Thursdays flying with our sister squadron, the DD's, that is if I am able. And a couple more hours through out the rest of the days of the week. So 18 to 20 hours a week if I get both Sunday and Thursday flight times in, all online.

i have fairly accurate stats for me, the average is around 6-7 hours per week (3-4 occasions) online

but if I add offline practice sessions, reading related books, reading the forums, hardware modding, auxiliary software delevopment, all in the name of IL2 ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif things ARE bad.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I put my cougar and my pedals on the shelf for a while. Too damn hot to play flight sims at this time of the year.

I'm currently playing samurai shodown 5 sp, with a fan set on full speed, wearing only underwear!
