View Full Version : My first complete online kills...how embarrassing....

OK...I've loved the 109 since I built the old Monogram kit back in 1978. I know it's not a wonder-bird, but nothing else with wings is half as aesthetically pleasing. So, I figgered I'd fly it and hopefully become decent with it online someday.

However I wasn't having much luck. I was having some kills...very few mind you...but I was always getting killed in the attempt. Head-ons, you see. BNZ wasn't working so well since it's really hard to hit something when you're moving over 600 kph, and the other guy knows yer coming. Maybe I need to slow down my approach.

Anyway, the two opposing fields were pretty close and climbing to decent altitude takes time and a host of other excuses...I chose the Jug with about 25% fuel. I was gonna make shallow dives and see what can be done with 8 fity-cals.

I usually fly blue, but if I see red with less players than blue, I go red. So, here I am in a red Jug. Not in my beautiful, rakish 109...but in a portly aircraft that looks like those plastic monstrosities that young parents give their barely-out-of-diapers children...sans the fixed undercarriage of course...LOL

Anyway, so I'm making my first shallow dive into a cloud of black dots. Soon I see a red being chased by two blues. The two blues are a 109 and a spit. The spit is just looking for an opportunity to shoulder shoot. The red is zig-zagging madly and trailing a thin plume of dark smoke.

I close into and start whacking away with my fities...trying to lead that 109 without hitting my fellow red player. My finger doesn't come off the trigger as I am juking as madly as the three in front of me trying to get them to (at least) stop their pursuit.

All of a sudden, the two blues are down in the dirt, and I get double kills (!!!)...But in the wrong plane...ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH....the agony...the shame! It could have only been worse had I sunk so low as to do them in a Kommunist-contrived-craft.

My first complete kill in the 109 came two hours later. Again, a mate was being hounded...but this time by a Spit. I'm not going so fast now and we're all low-to-the-ground. I give the Spit a nice long lead, and let all three barrels loose. The Spit catches up to my fusillade and his left wing rips in half and he tumbles into the sea. That is why you fly in servers with at the minimum locked cockpit. This way you can use proper real world tactics without big fat arrows giving you away.

Congrats on the kills, nothing more satisfying than ripping with the Jug. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

AFAIK, neither Seversky nor Kartveli were Communist. I know Seversky stayed in the US to avoid the Bolsheviks, and was naturalized in 1927.

Other than that, who else is gonna strap a huge engine on a plane built sturdier than a brick outhouse that can fly up to 43,000ft and has enough ductwork to give even Rosie O'Donnell a stainless steel alimentary canal?

Great kills, though, despite being in a different plane. Same thing happened to me, I made some of my first Online kills in a Spit, and I never fly Spits......and it shows! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Get a wingmate or three and with some practice it won't much matter what you fly.
BTW, that's how it was done IRL.

nice kills...and nice story.....I like to read these, but it is difficult to put into words and adaquetly describe the things we experience daily in our flights....on or off-line http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif
