I suspect that for a while at least I'll be taking a crate up simply for sightseeing. The atmospheric effects and lighting are so evocative! I hope the bad weather looks as good, too.

The skyglow around the night time moon seems well modelled. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/Lexx_Luthor/Smileys/thumbs.gif

I wonder who`s going to be interested in this since it is very close to BoB release. It`s an old refined Oleg engine jeez!BoB even if like 6months apart is going to blow this one away.

Ofcourse the more sims the better but with who do they want to compete anyway?

KotS has nothing to do with olegs sims - the Il2 engine was abandoned months ago

KotS has an all new code - it is new from the ground up...And personally - if the BoB is just an enhanced version of the '46 with the same elements - I will be playing much more KotS be sure.

Can't wait. I've never been too interested in WW1 sims. But this looks very interesting.

This one interests me much more than the vanilla delights of yet another Battle of Britain.

Are you kidding me? I look more forward to this than Bob.. and Olegs engine they dropped ages ago.. they said it was too old.

And they do not compete. Two totally different ages and theatres...... I would say that BoB biggest competition is IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Why do they conflict? They're not offering the same kind of flying, really. I'm looking forward to BoB - I hope it can be expanded to cover the Fleet Air Arm!

Great promise but please get some native english speaker (better yet WRITER) to correct the info page:

Gennadich Team has officially announced starting a new PC simulation project with working title 'WWI: Knights of the Sky". The game's plot is based on historical standoff between Antanta and Germany on Belgium-France border back in 1916-1918. During this period, dubbed the dawn of airforce, combat aviation was born and first aces earned fame in daring dogfights. On territory 100 000 sqaure miles wide, players will be able to take part in famous battles at Ipres, Malmeson, Cambri, as well as Liese river operation and Verden 'meat mincer'. Users will be given an opportunity to fly 13 legendary airplanes including Fokker Dr.1, Nieuport 17/17bis/23, SPAD XIII, Albatros D.III, Gotha G.V, SopwithCamel, R.E.8. AI-controlled units will nsist of 30 NPC aircraft and some 60 types of ground units. The game will contain both single and multiplayer (LAN/Internet) modes as well as historically realistic campaigns for both sides and user-friendly training missions. The project is currently scheduled to be released by Fall 2007 (Russian publisher is 1C)

Antanta, is that a new nation?!

hint - french as in Entente Cordiale

Dawn of airforce...

Dawn of Air War, okay but dawn of airforce just doesn't click.

Cambri or Cambrai?

just some examples

But the whole premise of the text is odd.

The game's plot is based on historical standoff...

Is this a funky way of telling people it is about World War ONE?!

Both sims will be state of the art. Its unbelievable that some people still have the impression that BOB will just be a rehashed IL-2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

The hardest thing with these sims besides the engine etc, is the right mix of flyables.

I haven't seen a list, but the short resume shows an advantage in favor of the Anglo-French. The Albatros D.III isn't a match for the Camel and SPAD XIII, the Dr.I is agile but too slow. Hoping to see the Albatros D.V and Fokker D.VII (as I am hoping to see the SE5a and SPAD VII).

On a positive note, it looks stunning!

If they do pull it off, it might even be my primary sim, taking more of my time than SoW!

hehe car guy/guyette, catch up with teh timz.

The Gennadich sim was originally based on OLEG FB, but they absorbed another Russian WW1 sim developer (Sikorsky, WW1 Eastern Front) with a more advanced grafix engine. Its all good!

The only issue I see is they might be making the same fumble Oleg made -- a focus on Online Dogfight gameplay while sacrificing Offline customers and Online War. If the sim costs maybe 100$ in Ussian paper, or if THE GENNADICH team (largely Online player hobbiests) goes Pay-To-Play Online, then it could work.

As far as I know, Red Baron was liked primarily for its dynamic campaign (not sure). Did RB allow a dynamic Online War?

If Gennadich does nothing more than make it possible for indpendent 3rd Party modders like Lowengrin to make dynamic campaign generators, then all is GOOD. We can make the DCGs ourselves.
