Hi All

Just thought I'd share some footage I shot with my digital camera earlier this year.

Hope you enjoy it

I love the I-153 and the way it sounds. It's like a chirpy, bubbly, fart machine that rocks your socks off!

Sounds like an old souped-up volkswagen!

That was great! Had no idea there were any 153's left flying.

But how much of the difference in sound is from being in the cockpit as opposed to being at a fixed point on the ground observing the plane flying by?

I noticed the pilot was windmilling his prop out of a dive as he did that on the deck 360---looked so odd! Of course, this was what people do in the real world, and how a prop looks in the real world. What an airplane! Certainly shows how far the game engine sound is from the real engine sound: pop, grumble, gurgle, blat!!!!

^ I think that has more to do with the speed of the camera, rather than the prop itself. Check the end of the film where the A/C taxis along. It looks like the prop is only doing 2 RPM.

Thank you very much for posting it.
I have no possibilities to go to places where it flies.

Hmm....I don't seem able to download it.
Is it possible?

saw the 153 for the first time this January.
I must say the sound was fantastic, the choppyness gave you a good feeling about what it must have been like to be around a whole squadron of these.

This is all I got of it from wings over wairarapa

This is probably my favorite Oleg airplane, and always has been.

I was there on the Saturday, I got photos of them towing the 153 up and that flyby was of the first test flight of the day.

I'm building a couple 1:48 scale Chaika models---I'm grateful for all the images.

Have to agree with Leitmotiv there. The 153 was the first thing I ever flew when I first got FB out of the box. It was a long time before I even wanted to try anything else.

If you want to post any more of your vids Lead-Brick, you have a very eager and appreciative audience http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Hey, everyone in their right mind _KNOWS_ that Messerschmitts are sterile and boring killing machines whereas Chaikas are cr4ppy, sportif and fun! HTH http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Hm, did that footage actually show an I-153 going down?! As a matter of fact, in BLACK CROSS/RED STAR VOL.2, by Bergstrom, there is an interesting narrative about the death of one of the crack German 109 aces in 1942. He made the error of assuming the I-153 was meat on a platter and the tables were turned---terminally for him.

I saw some pretty severe cannon strikes on the forward fusealage towards the end...With all the strikes you can and can not see, I would say its a fair bet he didnt get home.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Why would you expect to see it go down anyway, I'll bet the LW pilot didn't know what happened to it either, dont forget most guys in combat could not afford the luxury of hanging around to see wht damage they caused... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif
