http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif Yeah, that odor is completely normal.

First you should tell how and how much did you dirtied it. That would be a useful clue to know how and how much you should clean it.

Should be fine in the washer, I wash other hats all the time. I just toss them in and after the wash throw em in the dryer and all is well. I am not sure about the reflective stuff though as I use the vector cip.

You don't, your supposed to get a new one every time you upgrade to the next level of http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif TIR.

Thats Marketing for ya. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

That way with all its dirt, grime, and kill marks painted on the side, you can hang it up as a trophy, for your new hat to look at, and live up to. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

A sink and a hand wash with an overnight air dry does just fine.

I change the oil in my cars, never my hats. Gotcha! Just joking around. Han Freak Solo is right. Put it in the sink, hand wash it with a mild detergent (even shampoo will work just fine) and let it dry overnight. That is the best way the wash anything you are worried about damaging. That is the way I always wash my hats.

It might be a whole lot simpler to just wear the hat in the shower.

Took mine to the dry cleaners. They bent the brim a little, but it still looks ok.

I stick the reflective thing on my bald forehead. Spain is too a hot place in summer to wear hats at home. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I leave my hat on the couch, and my dog licks it clean in short order. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

I just give my bald forehead a rub with a lint free cloth (thats lint free, mind). That'll give you all the shine you'll ever need.

A number of years ago I was lucky enough to visit China, and as a souvenir bought one of those green caps with the red star on the front (this was quite a few years ago, and the Chinese people were all wearing them). Many years later I was looking after my ex-girlfriends cat while she was away. For some reason it wouln't use the kitty-litter thing and instead did its business in one of the shelves in my wardrobe. I have never smellt anything so vile in my life, I had to throw away clothing. The hat was only in the near proximity of the mess that the cat made but it still stank. I didn't want to throw it away because of sentimental reasons, and didn't know how to clean it without destroying it, so I put it into a plastic bag...the only way to stop it stinking out the whole flat, and kept it there. This must have happened over ten years ago now, and the hat is still in the bag Whenever I open it now to look at the hat I wish I hadn't done; the smell is still the same!

...just though I'd share.

Any advice is welcome.

When flying, I wear a pair of Y fronts on my head, with a reflective dot in the centre of the Y.

However, I should add that I don't even have Track IR

Very funny F6_ace. By the way, is that your girlfriend in your signature picture? If so she looks very nice. If not, please remove it...it scares the bejesus out of me.

It is a truely freaky photograph.

If you wash it in the end just remember some lice are a protected species.

@F6_Ace: The eyes of that thing follow me wherever I go... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

That's because they are experimental eyes; they were inflated to over 80 PSI by a snot nosed twerp garage attendant in Vegas.

Incidentally, I keep the female life form in the photo submerged in a special holding tank in my shed that is filled with creosote and which has one of those tropical aquarium aerators.

I should add that she gurgled something about it being nice that people had commented on her but that she'd very much prefer to be saved from my evil clutches. Or something like that.

I had a fav light jacket that suffered the same fate (oder del gato): same thing as I had heard from skunks: lemon juice. Washed it that way in the bathroom sink and it helped enough for me to wear it. Except sometimes it'd still be faintly there when it got wet. Hope that helps.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif this is the best way to clean a "baseball" type cap... just don't use the "heat" dry cycle... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
